Original Xbox On update problem.

Hi all. This may have been covered already but I've not yet found it whilst searching. I have two Xbox Ones, an original and a S. The S is fine and gets used dailly, but the original now for a month or two or even three needs an update of around 396mb/400mb
every few days when it's used, the S only needs to be updated occasionally. The last few days on the original it seems to have gotten worse and is throwing up codes about not being able to update and occasionally having no network connection (it's hard wired
close to the router and there's no current problems with my internet).

Earlier it gave a "You need to update your console, but something went wrong" and error codes of 0x80072f8f 0x00000000 0x00000201. Only the first came up with anything when searching on the Xbox codes support and that was a generic issue with network connection.
Because of this I done a factory reset on Friday, but the needing to update every few times you put the Xbox on persists and having updated it again a few minutes ago, come the next time turn the console on it'll likely need doing again.

Can anyone shed any light into what might be happening, is it not actually updating or is it losing data?

Update Destroyed My Connection!

I've been having a very similar problem since the original may 19th update. Can get into a multiplayer game, but I instantly have a major lag spike. Xbox support offered no help whatsoever, Im glad to see other people have the same problem me. This is a
problem with the update, no doubt about it, the same thing happened with the original kinect interface update as well.

What kind of update are you talking about? If you're getting an error launching the game on your console (which usually says "an update may be required"), then you have the problem of Xbox Original games not playing on your console. Do you have an
official Microsoft Hard Disk Drive (HDD) in your console? You won't be able to play original Xbox titles on, for example, an Xbox 360S 4GB console, as it has no HDD.

 

It sounds like the original xbox one that updates very often is enrolled in the insiders program where you get preview updates before others. If you want to unenroll please open the preview app and select the option to unenroll this xbox from the program
and the next update will be the regular public build.

About the network error, if you turn off the console and unplug it for 30 seconds and reboot does it still happen? Can you try the Network connection test in Settings > Network to be sure it doesn't say "hardware problem" after that reboot?
