Original XBOX Live

Hey everyone! I know you all have been hearing a lot of complaining about the original xbox live servers going down (since 2010 hahaha) but I have a legitimate question.

Wouldn't Microsoft actually benefit from reviving the original XBOX Live? I mean the server technology from original Live is so primitive that I bet the whole thing could be run on a few nodes. I mean... I'm not even sure if a terabyte was something anyone
in the public could buy in 2002 haha, but now big servers like the ones at Cisco are running over 2 TB of ram for virtual processes. I have a feeling that original Live can't be software intensive nor hardware intensive for any form of server technology nowadays,
so costs to run it all would be existent but minimal. And to pay that all off and make extra money why not start the revival of the original XBOX? I mean players are hungry to play and that can easily be seen all across the internet, so why not just charge
for live like Microsoft always has? I don't know this is just some things that have been flowing though my mind.

Any thoughts? Could anyone edumacate me about this? I'm not too keen on costs of servers and or about things of this nature.

You have to understand it is old technology and it become a time when it is not cost effective to maintain the technology. The cost of the servers is not the only costs involved. If you could simply run them up and forget them then it probably would not
be a problem but there is a great deal of overhead involved with running a server farm.

 

I still have my Original Xbox hooked up. That would be great if Original Xbox LIVE were to return, I would certainly play some games. Perhaps Microsoft could do a small retro flashback and see how that goes. If it does well, maybe they would consider it.

 

I don't see that happening. There is just too much involved for that kind of project with the requirements existing with the 360 and One consoles. BUT I guess anything is possible. Anyway, I wonder just how many gamers still have a working Original Xbox.

I doubt very many people have an original xbox anymore. And of the ones who do, I doubt many of them ever use them. I have an Intellivision, NES, Super NES, N64, and a Gamecube, but I've used none of them since I bought the 360 shortly after release.

 

I guess I may be one of the few who still have an Original Xbox hooked up, though there are still possibilities Original Xbox games could be released on Xbox One.

I found a request for the servers to be turned back online through the Xbox User Voice, and voted

I remember reading that it could be possible for Original Xbox games to be made to work on Xbox One, and that would be amazing if Microsoft would focus on that as there are many gaming experiences on the Original Xbox that have yet to be re-done. Especially
games like Phantom Dust, Timesplitters, Conker: Live and Reloaded, Dance Dance Revolution Ultramix series (there has yet to be any new DDR games on the Xbox One, and the Original Xbox DDR games were the best online), Dead or Alive Ultimate (because DOA2 is
still my favorite of the series), Unreal Championship 2: The Liandri Conflict (to name a few).
