Original Xbox GTA San Andreas does not start

Hello,

I hope someone can help. I want to play my original copy of GTA: San Andreas on the Xbox 360. The Xbox is updated (via USB drive). I tested the update with
Halo. The game starts and is playable.

However, GTA: SA does not start. Instead, an error message appears - the game is "not certified", although it is listed as one of the original Xbox games playable on the Xbox 360. I do not have access to another console where I could test the DVD.

What else can I try? Might it help if I connected the console to the internet and tried again?

For those of you that still play the Original Xbox, do you use a SDTV or HDTV?

On my original Xbox and my ps2, I had standard def for both. High Definition just wasnt necessary. I played GTA San Andreas on my original Xbox, shortly before GTA V came out and HD didnt help it any. The only reason that it was even playable was because
the story in San Andreas was so good. IMO, until GTA V, San Andreas was the best GTA ever. I no longer have any standard definition TV's but if I did, that is what I would use to play original Xbox

 

GTA: San Andreas is indeed backwards compatible from the Original Xbox console. You must have, however, an official Xbox HDD installed to your 360 for this to work. Do you have one?

 

Yes, my Xbox has an official HDD installed. The console also seems to recognize the HDD: Whenever I start up a game, the HDD is listed as one of the available storage media.

The DVD itself also looks good to me. I would describe its condition as "not pristine, but very good", with some really minor scratches.

At the risk of asking a stupid question: Would Halo start if the update had not, somehow, worked?

 

I believe the 360 is compatible with Halo 1 and 2 out of the box. Try another Xbox game.
