    Original Xbox games won't run on my Xbox 360


    Whenever I try and play an original Xbox game on my Xbox 360 I receive a message saying "This original Xbox game is not supported on your Xbox 360 console. An update to support this game may be available. For more info, go to www.xbox.com/games." I have
    an Xbox 360 elite and I'm currently using an official Microsoft 20gb HDD with it. I've downloaded the latest update and the games I am trying to play ("Conker Live and Reloaded" and "Shenmue 2") are physical disks and are on the list of compatible games

    http://support.xbox.com/en-US/legacy-devices/original-console/play-original-games    . I've followed some of the troubleshooting steps listed here Uh oh... that shouldn't have happened. including clearing the system cache, formatting
    the hard drive and, deleting the system update and downloading the update again. I haven't tried testing the games with another HDD or Xbox 360 system yet as I don't have any spares, but the steps I have taken keep giving me the same error message.

    Bought a old Xbox game (rollercoaster Tycoon) and it won't load on my xbox 360 ERROR code: X: 5829.0 B: 1884.0

    Sorry, but Rollercoaster Tycoon is not backwards compatible with the Xbox 360. There is no way to run this game on your console.

    All the original Xbox games that can run on the Xbox 360 are on this list:http://support.xbox.com/games/play-original-games

    If the game is not on that list, you can't play it on an Xbox 360.

    Original Xbox games won't run on my Xbox 360

    Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and select System Settings.

    2.Select Storage Highlight but don’t select a storage device, and then press Y on your controller for Device Options.

    Note It doesn't matter which storage device you choose. This clears the cache for all storage devices.

    Like I've said, I have already tried clearing the system cache but I still can't play original Xbox games on my Xbox 360 and I keep getting the same error message as before.

    Hi,

    It's likely because the hard drive you're using on the Xbox 360 isn't an official Microsoft hard drive. Only official Xbox hard drives from MS will allow you to run original Xbox games made backwards compatible on the 360 platform.

    Original Xbox games won't run on a 360 if:

    • You don't have an internal hard drive
    • Your internal drive is not official - knock off hard drives from eBay and Amazon won't run original games.
    • Your 360 hard drive is faulty

    Backwards compatibility requires an original Xbox 360 Hard disc with the pre-installed backwards compatibility software. If the disc is wiped, this is lost.

    So... if I have formatted my official HDD, I have no access to the emulator anymore? And there's no way of getting it back, like downloading it from Xbox Live?
    If it's an offical drive formated with the console it will still work.

    If it's not offical like Arminator X mentioned, it won't make any difference.

    Does your Xbox 360 have an original Xbox 360 hard drive in it? Or did you buy a harddrive accessory and replaced/added that to your console?

    Be aware, that only original Xbox 360 hard drives have the necessary Xbox emulator on them. Third Party hard drives might not work with Xbox games, as they lack the original Xbox emulator.
