    so i dug out my old 360 and out of all the old original Xbox games i have that are stated as being backward compatible only Halo 2 will play.

    i have tried reformatting the HD, any updates have downloaded (this seems to be a bit random) but still no joy. I've looked a dozens of articles on the web but none seem to help. I even tried MS's own support pages downloadable . **** update file but the 360 can't read the disc (as this update seems to be from 2007 i don't know if it should work anyway).

    So anyone any ideas? Any help appreciated but it is definitely an official MS HD bought when i got the console.

    Star Wars Battlefront won't start on 360

    If it's the original Xbox version of the game that is backwards compatible with the 360, then it requires an official MS brand hard drive in order to work. The HD you have listed as having 3.2gb free is most likely the internal flash memory and not a hard
    drive. If the other hard drive is not an actual MS brand Xbox hard drive, the game won't work.

    Hi,

    It's likely because the hard drive you're using on the Xbox 360 isn't an official Microsoft hard drive. Only official Xbox hard drives from MS will allow you to run original Xbox games made backwards compatible on the 360 platform.

    Original Xbox games won't run on a 360 if:

    • You don't have an internal hard drive
    • Your internal drive is not official - knock off hard drives from eBay and Amazon won't run original games.
    • Your 360 hard drive is faulty

    Yeah, it needs to be an official hard drive.

    For the S, these are either 250GB or 320GB. With an official one of this capacity, you will be able to play Original Xbox games on your 360.

    The 4gb is internal flash memory, not a hard drive. All original Xbox games require an official MS hard drive in order to play because of the emulation software required. You can absolutely add a hard drive to your console. They are available as 250gb, 320gb,
