    Hi,

    i have Xbox 360 slim with 4gb hard drive. Everytime i try to play my original xbox game like halo 2, it says to install hard drive. I understand xbox 360 supports upto 16gb flash drives, so i was wondering if there is anyway I can use the sandisk 16GB flash drive to play the games?

    I have formated the flash drive and it is detected but i still get the message to install hard drive.

    Hey there, that's true only for Xbox Original games. A game that was first released for Xbox 360 should behave itself on a USB. Have you tried an USB drives besides the one? You can check out the specifications here: Xbox

    If the game gives you an option to install it, the you can install it to a USB drive. Original Xbox is referring the console before the 360. So if the game is for the 360 you can use a USB drive.

    Yes, in order to play original Xbox games on your Xbox 360, you will need an original Xbox 360 hard drive.

    Be aware, that on Amazon Marketplace, Ebay and other online shops, you often get Chinese Knock-Offs of the original Xbox 360 hard drive, that does NOT contain the Xbox emulator.

    So even if you have a hard drive accessory, unless it is an original Microsoft one, it might not work.

    Only if you have an original, genuine Microsoft Xbox 360 hard drive you'll be able to play Xbox games.

    And since USB drives are always seen as a "Memory Unit" and not as a hard drive, USB hard drives don't work as well.

    No. In order for backwards compatibility to work on the 360, it requires an official MS brand 360 hard drive due to system files on those drives. A regular flash drive or any other external storage device will not work.
