    Original Xbox games on a 360


    G'day.

    I have several old xbox games which are on the official list of games which I should be able to play on the 360. However, when I try, I get an error message saying the game could not be played and I should re-download. Looking at some of the tutorials and threads, this seems to indicate that I do not have an official Xbox 360 hard drive, except that my machine is one of the old versions where the 120GB HDD plugs into the top of the console.

    Is this at all ringing a bell to any of you good people?

    You'd need to do exactly what the message tells you to. You need to attach an original Xbox 360 hard drive to your console in order to be able to play original Xbox games.

    If you have a Xbox 360 S 4GB or a Xbox 360 Original Arcade console then you'd need to get yourself an original Xbox 360 hard drive (either for the original Xbox 360, or the Xbox 360 Slim). This information is told to you when purchasing the game in the games
    description. An original Xbox 360 hard drive can be purchased from most gaming related retail stores like Best Buy, Target, Walmart, Gamestop, etc.

    Hello spedpickle, yes, the 360 supports it, but most original Xbox games will only run on 360 if they are installed on the original Xbox 360 internal HD.

    Hi, is the game an original Xbox game or an Xbox 360 game? That message usually is for an original Xbox game. If it is an original Xbox game, then the hard drive you installed is not an official Xbox 360 hard drive, which you need to play those games.
