Original Xbox games on 360 error

It seems no matter what I do, I cannot play my original Xbox games on my 360 (either physical games or digital games). I have an official 360 hard drive, I've re-installed latest updates, re-downloaded the game (the digital one), and cleared caches. Yet
I still get "The game could not start. Try downloading the game again" the games in question are on the list for games that can work. I doubt it is a problem with the hard drive as I can run my apps, digital 360 games, and digital arcade games just fine. I'm
just really cheesed that I just purchased an Xbox original game digitally and I cant even play it and or get refunded (I would just pop it into my original system but alas it is digital, so no-go)

Original Xbox 360 E74 error message- Solution

If your Xbox 360 has failed because of the E74 error, you’ll see the following message on the screen when you turn on your Original Xbox 360 console:

System Error. Contact Xbox Customer Support.
E74

If you see this error message, you must repair your console. The warranty period for the E74 error is three years from the original purchase date of the console. If the warranty period expires, you’ll have to pay for the repair.

360 won't play Xbox games

If you are using a third-party hard drive that isn't officially certified and sold by Microsoft, it cannot be used for installing original Xbox games.

Also ensure your Xbox 360 is fully updated, and your game is supported for backward compatibility on the Xbox 360.

NVM just found out that my hard drive is NOT an offical microsoft one which is really **** that it has to be a super specific Hard drive and cant be any other types despite still being microsoft hard drives...

You should be able to play the game because it is in the
Xbox originals list for Xbox 360

Is it giving an error message saying you need to download the game or is it asking you to download an update?

An update is needed in order to let games designed for the original Xbox to run on the 360, for this you'll need a Live connection and an official 360 hard drive.
