Original Xbox DVD drive problem

Hello there and greetings from Switzerland!

After moving around a lot, I finally settled down for good and got my stuff back from a storage unit (including my beloved original Xbox). She used to be a moody girl, rejecting some of my games (even if they were in perfect condition) and accepting others
with no apparent reason. Now she refuses to read any of my games. She starts fine and the hard drive works flawlessly (I have access to my music and saved games) but when I insert a game, I do not hear the common sound of the disc spinning and the "open/close"
button blinks green for a couple of seconds and then stops.

I know that this is the Xbox 360 support but since there seems to be no more original Xbox support, I thought why not try here... My questions are the following. I guess that there is a problem with my DVD drive (or is it a CD, can't remember). I would like
to change it in order to repair the old lady, and since I am pretty sure there is no way I can find an original drive, do you have any idea of the optical drive compatibility with the old Xbox? Also, had anyone experienced a similar problem and how did you
repaired it?

downloading an update leads to a status error? therefore not letting me sign into xbox live.

IM HAVING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM I JUST HAD MY XBOX FIXED I DONT KNOW IF THE DVD DRIVE IS THE ORIGINAL.

After all that I've gone through (2 defective DVD Drives on the Original Xbox and 2 defective DVD Drives / 4 RRODs on the Xbox 360), I would be super ultra angry if my Xbox One broke.

Hello,

there is a reason you can't find forum or chat support about original xbox console and the reason is simple that the support for that console has been terminated for a long time now. No parts or repairs are offered for the console you are using.

In the other hand it is time you let the old lady go and upgrade with the new gen system!

Reading on other problems like this, it seems this is an error created when a dvd drive that is not your original drive is replaced into your console.

It also plays DVD's with no problem. Tried opening and closing but with no luck. I was thinking the same and it being the disk drive but the fact it will play xbox original games and DVD's makes me think otherwise. Could there be any other reason for this
happening?

E66: DVD Drive Error - Dvd drive pairing failure: DVD model, or version does not match that of the version expected by the dashboard. OR the firmware version on the drive is older then the firmware version expected by the dashboard. Make sure the DVD drive
is of the same version originally included with the console and that it is using either the original firmware included with the console or newer. if drive can eject, read, and write under windows but errors on console, replacing original firmware should fix
issue.
