Original Xbox disc dirty or damaged message.

I bought a used Xbox (original 2001 model) and while playing a game abour 30 minutes into gaming, I get a black screen that pops up saying that the disc is dirty or damaged and that the xbox cannot read the game or dvd. but the game disc is clean with no
dirt or scratches, what can I do to fix this?

Black ops 3 disc not downloading

So I got the disc version of Black ops 3 and it comes with nuk3town and I download it and in 3% it says"Installation stopped: Disc might be dirty or damaged" and its not damaged or dirty I JUST got it. Please help.

 

Playing a disc game for the XBox One

maybe the disc is unreadable? could it be damaged or dirty?

 

Oh because it very old model that why it can't play or read newest games only older games, so you probably have to buy another one that is newest model, but you can still keep the old one as collector something like that.

 

It's an original xbox,how are they going to get a newer model?

Sounds to me like the disc drive has gone,as there is no support for the original xbox any more you would need to get either another console or replace the disc drive.

 

Thank you., I swapped out my Thompson Drive with a Samsung and all I get is the frozen xbox logo screen.

 

You can buying the whole unit for next to nothing these days,your better off buying another one than trying to fix yours.

Could be the disc drive lens. Try opening it up and cleaning it with rubbing alcohol and a q-tip. Worked wonders for my PS2 when it wouldn't play games.

You could also try those drive cleaners which are just discs with a brush attached to them to clean the lens.

 

I'll try that tonight. thank you so much! it's funny because the only game disc that messes up is Mortal Kombat Armageddon. I can onl;y seen to play it for 25 minutes then I get the "disc might me dirty or damaged" screen.. and the game disc is in perfect
shape, I wonder why the older Xbox disc drive is so sensitive?

 

NO Q-Tips. They have a tendency to scratch the lens.

If you're going to clean a laser lens simply blow off the dust. (Pucker up) and use an eye glass cleaning cloth, roll it to an edge, and dip that edge in rubbing alcohol. (Not the drinking kind) and lightly rub the lens. Be sure to blow the entire area DRY
afterwards.

The Original Xbox, even though outdated. Is well worth the effort to fix.
