Starting on October 24, 2017 you'll be able to play Three Generations of Xbox Games, all made better through the power of Xbox One. Play amazing classics like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic from Bioware and Ninja Gaiden Black from Team Ninja. This
FAQ sticky is meant to help answer some of those common questions you may have, as well as explain a bit more of what you can expect if you're playing these games on an Xbox One console.

What Original Xbox games are compatible with the Backward Compatibility program?

I purchased some of these games when they were made Backward Compatible on Xbox 360, are they the same games? How do I obtain them again on Xbox One?

Yes, if you have already purchased a game digitally, you'll just need to look in the Ready to Install section on the Xbox One console and from there, you'll be able to download the game.

I don't own the disc version of these games, can I purchase a game through the Xbox Store digitally?

Yes, however not all games will be available for purchase on the Xbox Store on Xbox One. You might need to purchase the game either on Xbox.com or on an Xbox 360 console.

I have stored currency on my account, can I use it to purchase original Xbox Games?

Yes,however since these are original titles and not remasters, you'll need to make the purchase from an Xbox 360 console when using stored currency. After you make the purchase, you'll be able to download the game on Xbox One by visiting the Ready to Install
section on the Xbox One console.

What if I own the disc copy of a game that is on the Backward Compatibility list? Can I just use the disc instead?

Absolutely! Just insert the game into the Xbox One console and you'll be prompted to download the digital version of the game to play. You will need to keep the disc inserted into the console while playing though.

I'm seeing an error that says "Your account is unable to make this type of purchase on Xbox.com. Please complete this transaction from your Xbox." What does this mean?

What type of enhancements have been made to these games? What makes them better on Xbox One?

Original Xbox games will look better on the Xbox One family of devices, taking advantage of the power of Xbox One with up to four times the pixel count on Xbox One and Xbox One S, and up to sixteen times the pixel count on Xbox One X.

Will I be able to play these Xbox Original games online? What about System Link?

Since these are original games and not remasters, Xbox Live services such as online multiplayer that were available on the original Xbox will not be available. However, offline multiplayer scenarios such as co-op and system-link are supported as they were
originally.

Will I be able to earn Achievements in Original Xbox games?

The short answer is no. There are no Achievements for Original Xbox games because this functionality was not originally available when the Original Xbox console was released.

Original Xbox controllers had Black and White buttons, what buttons do I use in place of those in game?

Controls can vary by game, but these buttons are now mapped to the LB and RB buttons on your Xbox One controller. To clarify, they are as follows.

• White Button - Left Bumper
• Black Button - Right Bumper

Do I need an Xbox One S or Xbox One X to enjoy Backward Compatibility for Original Xbox games?

Nope! You'll be able to enjoy Backward Compatible titles on all Xbox One devices.

My apologies, but it seems I'm having some difficulty understanding exactly what you are asking. But, if the question is can you play Xbox 360 games on your Xbox One? Then the answer is, maybe.... It all depends on if your games are part of the "Backward
