Original email associated with new gamertag

I have a xbox360 gamertag which I used for many years, I recently bought an xbox one which my partner set up for me whilst I was working. Unfortunately my email address was linked to a different gamertag which I have recognised from my steam account on pc.
This one was assigned to me because it wouldn't let me use my xbox account ( not sure why, I tried several times). Now I have a gamertag I don't want and I wish to have my original gamertag back. Any help would be appreciated.

Moving GamerTag on XBoxOne

My GamerTag on XBoxOne was associated with an email that is no longer active. We created a new Microsoft account with new email and transferred our XBoxLive payment info to this new email, but cannot figure out how to transfer the original GamerTag and
all associated game progress info to the new account with the new email. The main problem is that I cannot access XBox Live anymore from the original GamerTag. I can still login to the original GamerTag, but cannot figure out how to move this to the new
account or change email account on this GamerTag. Please help - this has been going on for months and we cannot find a solution.

yeah just create a new email address, go to xbox.com and change the email associated with your gamertag. heres the lnk for you.

Do you still have your xbox 360 with you? If you have and you can still sign in your account there. You could actually check the right email assigned to your account. You just need to go to Settings > Account > Your Information > Account Security. The right
Microsoft Account email assigned to your gamertag will reflect there. If you don't have your 360 anymore.

What I would suggest is to contact support so they could try to assist you on recovering your account. The reason why you have a new gamertag assigned to your email is because that's the wrong email you're using. You can only have one gamertag per email
so that means you might have used one of your older emails.

you don't need an xbox 360 to change your sign-in alias, you can go here
https://account.microsoft.com/

Once signed in Click on "Your info" tab, once at the page click on "Manage your sign-in email or phone number "

It will request you to sign in again, sign in.

add the email address you want and make it primary, you will be able to remove the current one or keep it makes no difference.

and you're done.

This old account did it have an parent account added to it?, if it did ask the owner of the account to sign in it might bring up your profile.

if so you we be able to change the sign in email in the steps above.

 

Thanks for the help guys. I have now added my original email as primary to the fancy badge gamertag. The question is now how to change my gamertag back to Drumkombat (my original gamertag) I have also my set up my 360 today and will be doing some research
on whether I can merge both accounts. Once again, thanks.

You willn't be able to change your gamertag has its already exists, you can perform the steps above to change your primary alias of the Drumkombat account to the one you want and swap it with a new email or the current one you wanted.

 

Thanks SirDubstep, I have changed my new email back to my original email using the microsoft account website, however it won't let me change it via my 360 as it says an account already exists

I am going to head over to live support and see if I can resolve this as I have the passwords for both accounts. Thanks everyone for your help, I shall post back shortly.

My account has been changed to my original email but I still can't access to the Drumkombat gamertag through xbox one. Does anyone have any more ideas? I think I will have to ring them as its getting to be a problem now.
