1. Optical output Xbox One

    Hi everyone,

I have an Yamaha HTR-6130 receiver and I’m trying to hook up to my Xbox one. Set up is HDMI from Xbox to receiver and HDMI from receiver to TV. Problem is that the 6130 is only passing through the HDMI Signal to the tv directly so I can’t get sound to my speakers.
The way to solve this problem seems to be to use the optical output on the Xbox because there is an optical input on the 6130 as well. So I connected the Xbox to receiver with an optical audio cable but I can’t hear anything. As I understand you have to disable
HDMI audio in Xbox settings (screen and sound) and activate optical sound in there. I’ve tried this but It doesn’t work. Anyone expieriensed this?

    :)

Digital Audio and the Xbox 360E

Actually it seems they ditched the optical output on the Xbox 360E, relegating Dolby Digital to the HDMI output. I don't know why they did this given the remaining need for it and that they put an optical output on the Xbox One.

Please fix/support surround sound via s/pdif

Connect an optical cable directly from Xbox One to your receiver and set the Xbox One audio settings to output Dolby Digital bitstream over optical.

Check your receiver settings to see if it can allow audio over HDMI, so you can skip the optical cord altogether. From what I can tell, the receiver is only passing video signal through.

A lot of these types of problems are caused by the receiver itself. Check your Yamaha receiver manuals or other documentation to see how you can configure it to achieve your desired setup.

S/Pdif to RCA Audio Adapter for Xbox One

Xbox One has 2 outputs - one HDMI and one Optical Audio (s/pdif). HDMI carries both audio and video. But if you want to send your audio to a receiver that does not have HDMI inputs, then you can use the optical output from Xbox One. PS4 is exactly the
    same.

And William is right - if you try converting HDMI to DVI, you will lose the audio on both Xbox and PS4 (unless you are using the separate optical output for audio).

Outrage that surroud sound is not patched for Dobly Digital though optical!
This is crazy. DD supported through HDMI but not the optical output?
The Xbox One console has no Dolby Digital output support at all. It's not just optical. There's no Dolby Digital via HDMI either.
