    Optical Output No 5.1

    Hello,

My surround sound has recently stopped working with my Xbox One X. I connect to my Samsung HTE4500 via optical cable and bitstream Dolby Digital. Recently when booting the console there is no sound. If I switch bitstream to stereo the sound returns, very
strange. If I swap the consule for an older Xbox one 5.1 works absolutely fine. The Xbox One X was working fine since I got it in January. It was only recently, and this could be a red herring, after plugging in a new play and charge kit that I noticed the
issue started. Strangely if I plug the optical cable into a powered optical cable splitter and then into my Samsung surround sound. 5.1 often works. I’ve switched cables, Restored the Xbox and tested with a different Xbox but everything leads me to think
it’s the One X not recognising the 5.1 signal.

Does anyone else have any issue like this?

    :)

DD 5.1 output from the optical port would be a good place to start.

    Hi there!

To be sure we have all the details, can you provide the following:

    • All troubleshooting steps you have tried so far.
    • Photos of the console location.
    • Photos of where the console is plugged into a power source.
    • Photos of the audio settings on the console.
    • Description of the HDMI cable setup from the console to the TV.
    • Receiver make and model.

Post back with that info and we will do our best to help troubleshoot!

I have been using this set up for the past 3 years.

Xbox plugged into TV via HDMi cable.

Xbox has an optical cable going to my Surround reciever.

Bitstream is set to DTS or Dolby.

All was working fine on the old console and has been working fine on my new XBox One X until a month ago. If I switch to stereo via bit stream it works fine and if I connect my old Xbox and using Dolby or DTS that also works fine.

I have sent the machine for service and repair and was told if a fault couldn't be found then a replacement would be sent. I believe I have received back my original console though judging by the serial number.

I understand the system updates maybe the cause of the issue but my old console has updated to the latest console and still there is no issue. Does the different consoles have differences in system updates?

  6. Thanks for that info!

Is one of your consoles in the preview program by chance?

Is there a reason your are using the Dolby setting is your surround sound system designed to take advantage of Dolby Atmos?

Do you have the dolby app installed on the Xbox One X?
