    Hello,

    I have an xbox one x, and a really good set of optical sennheiser headphones.

    These are $400 headphones, and sound great with the xbox (and everything else). I prefer the headphones for great sound, and to keep quiet in the house.

    I would like to add *just* a mic, that I can use for party chat. Something that clips on to my shirt, or on to the headphones.

    I do not really want to use a PC mic, and create parties on the PC. I want to attach something to the xbox one x controller.

    There may not be an "official" way to do this, but I would be interested in anyone's setup, someone that has successfully done this preferably (with a set of optical headphones that have no mic).

    Am I understanding that I need to attach a Y cable to the controller, which contains a spot for both headphones and a spot for a mic? In my situation, I believe I would just let the headphones cable dangle with nothing attached (since my headphones are already
    attached optical), and attach the mic. Does not seem very elegant.

    Chat through a HI-FI headphone??

    Need your help on the following audio question:

    I game with a pair of high end stereo hi-fi headphones connected to a DAC which is subsequently connected to the optical port of the Xbox One. (Video by HDMI cable from the Xbox One to the HDTV)
    Great game audio quality but to chat I use the kinect mic. (my friends hear me and I hear them through my headphones even though the voice quality is not the best).
    If I buy a separate mic to attach to my headphones and connect its 3.5mm jack to the adaptor will I hear the chat audio through my headphones??

    Does anyone know if I will be able to attach a regular PC mic (the pink 3.5 jack only) to this and use it? My plan is to use the optical out for audio and into a headphone amp and use my studio headphones (no mic attached to this pair). This leaves the mic
    to be dealt with. I will be using a Zalman clip on mic and need to know if I would be able to just plug it into the adapter.

    Hi Zenosos,

    No just playing and using Party Chat with friends, they can hear themselves because of the Mic Sensitivity on my end picks up the voices in my headphones attached to the mic.

    Party Chat Question

    Its best to get a replacement mic but as you don't feel like getting a replacement you can try this,

    Turn on Kinect Mic.

    Connect headphones to xbox.

    Turn volume on tv down to zero.

    Works very simply if they are headphones that are wireless or connect directly to the Xbox. Although you'll have to sit close to your Kinect if you want your friends to hear you well.
