  1. Optical disabled when using Atmos Home Theatre

I'm using Onkyo AVR with Dolby Atmos with my Xbox one X.

Using bitstream out with HDMI and selecting Dolby Atmos for home theatre disables Optical out.

Now my issue is what am I supposed to do if I want to use my Astro A50 headset when optical is disabled?

You're telling me when ever it's late at night or I want to use headset I have to open settings, change all the audio settings to run my optical headset. Then the following day if I want to use Home theatre change it all back to Atmos..

This is a massive problem for me and I'm not willing to pay $150 for a hdmi atmos audio extractor to optical just to use my $300 headset

    :)

I did some of my own investigating.

For those with with Home Theatres with HDMI

Cable Box HDMI Out to Xbox One HDMI In

Xbox One HDMI Out to Home Theatre HDMI In

Home Theatre HDMI Out to HDTV In

    .

If using optical audio for sound, connect the toslink from the Xbox One to the HT.

If using Optical Audio for sound, connect 2 toslink cables (One from the Xbox One and One from the cable box) into the home theatre. Assuming you HT supports multiple optical inputs.

Are we setting up the Xbox One here or doing the Hokey-Pokey?

Optical disabled when using Atmos Home Theatre

    Hi

I know this does not help with your problem but I think Dolby Atmos is only supported by HDMI and not an optical feed so I suspect that is the reason the optical out gets disabled when you have Atmos selected as your sound format.

Error code 0x80bd0009 when set up DOLBY ATMOS

Under Speaker audio in your settings menu when you select Dolby Atmos for home theatre in brackets beside it says HDMI only which indicates that Atmos isn't available over an optical connection. So the only way this is going to work is if your TV supports
Atmos passthrough which is probably not the case at least it isn't with my 4K 2017 Samsung. You would have to check with Samsung to be sure however.

Xbox Dolby Atmos on Samsung HW-N950 not working but it works with Sky Q and the Samsung HW-N950

Its problems with Atmos on home theatre that is the problem not headphones.

The Xbox doesn't seem to recognise the soundbar's (Samsung HW-N950) Atmos capability when plugged into my TV (Samsung 65' Q9FN)

Can't use Dolby Atmos for Home Theater with headset base station connected (Elite 800X and Astro A50)

If you have tried that but still can't enable Dolby Atmos while you have everything plugged in, then just disconnect the optical cable but leave the USB plugged in, which is what charges the headset, not the optical cable.
The optical cable does not trigger the Xbox to see the base station...it's the USB cable that - when connected - prompts the Xbox to recognize the presence of the base station/headset and disables Atmos. So it's not possible to charge the headset and use
    Atmos.

The optical cable can stay plugged in at all times and does not effect the ability to enable Atmos.
