Do you think that having a sexualised female character helps a game or hinders it when it comes to the audiences interaction?

For me it doesn't matter. I was just playing Tomb Raider and I couldn't care less if she was a dude or a chick, but that's just me.

You do have a lot of guys that love seeing nice looking animated characters. Some people are really into that sort of stuff. You'll also have women who pay attention to that and get offended when there aren't enough female characters or you'll have feminist
who get upset if a female character is barely dressed.

I couldn't care less because it's a video game. I play them for the adventure and I never really care about the main character.

 

As long as the lead character is interesting or has a bit of a personality then I couldn't care less on their gender.

If there's an option & the game is worth it i'll play through as both male & female.

 

I definitely dig a hot chic, some roles it adds but some it doesn't. When I play games like Mass Effect I always play first time as a dude. Though when I do create a female character, she's always hot......unless the games graphics really stuck.

 

As one of the few resident females round here, I have to agree that it really doesn't matter to me. I'm usually in it for the story and could care less if the characters are male or female.

 

It doesn't matter ultimately, but I do find myself drawn to female characters more if I have the choice. For example, I always played as the female Shepard in the Mass Effect series. I like all the female characters in all the Borderlands games and I tend
to make female characters in open world games(Fallout. Skyrim) simply because I can.

 

People surf pornography in their spare time and feel guilty doing it because part of them knows it's wrong.

Then they see strong attractive female leads who have confidence in their sexuality and their arrested development kicks in and they perceive these characters as dirty and bad.

I find the re-imagining of Laura Croft as this delicate petal that you are supposed to care for and protect to be far more insulting than the busty babe who was strong enough to run around robbing tombs and fighting off wildlife herself.
