What is everybody's opinions on the latest GwG: The Walking Dead?

For me, the first time I've played through, the idea of CHOOSING how I conversate with the various characters in the game while the story goes on is thrilling and consequential just like in real life. I've often get so overwhelmed of the increasing tension
and having my choices be shown, not just by the game itself but the characters themselves, I've paused the game multiple times to get my breath. I've never seen such a simple concept with a strong presence and story.

That said, the game has stuttered during play, specifically after dialog choices and transitions poorly at times. It made me realize that the experience was a bit jaded, however my biggest complaint is that clues can drag on for a while despite the limited
playspace. I'm playing on 360, is the experience different on the Xbox ONE?



Even if I'm done playing the episodes from beginning to end and getting all the achievements, I feel that it actually encourages multiple playthroughs (which I will do, to see what else could've happened). I could see some events happen
from a mile away, sorta like a TV show. I haven't even seen The Walking Dead yet I feel the story is substantial enough to stand in its own without prior knowledge to the show or comics. Who else thinks so? And I'm considering purchasing
the Season 2 of The Walking Dead, but having bits and pieces of context sold to me doesn't seem practical to me. I'm glad the whole first season was free tho to get people invested in it. Its easy gameplay also makes it accessible for everybody to enjoy its
multiple story branches that YOU could shape with the interactions.

Pick up The Walking Dead, even if you haven't seen the material before. You will get invested and feel of the atmosphere and characters and IT"S FREE (until the end of the month).

Brilliant game. The choice system and the sheer panic you get in fast situations where you must make a choice whilst set in a zombie apocolypse with people you genuinly think and care about, it all molds into a perfect game. Voice acting is brilliant and
the graphics look great too. Telltale Games have done an amazing job for this franchise for fans of Zombies and or the TV show and or and the comics. Everyone in those catergories should check these two titles out.

400 Microsoft Points each is a bargain as well, they last you for a good couple of hours. My only gripe is the length of time each episode takes to be released. Episode 1 & 2 are out and Episode 3 should becoming sometime in mid-August, early September.

You should also pick up the other telltale games all of which are really good with the exception of the new minecraft one which is far too childish for my taste

 

Telltale Games' The Walking Dead: Season 1 is by far the BEST story-driven video game I've ever played, bar none; nothing else even comes close...

 

Really GG? I do like it a lot but I find most of telltales others to be better. I probably like the wolf among us the best

 

I'm not as familiar with Wolf Among Us and have not yet beaten it yet (I've only finished episode 2). I do like Game of Thrones though - I just finished episode 2 for that as well, but then again I can relate to it as I watch the show AND read the books,
unlike WAU.

TWD was my 1st in the series of Telltale games which is why it hit home so hard. I've never had a game that pulled at the heart-strings so hard that it made me cry at least once in every single episode.

So far, GoT has only been able to do that in its 1st episode, and the rest haven't at all. Tales from the Borderlands has gotten quite a few laughs out of me though.

I'm currently working my way through Back to the Future and Minecraft Story Mode - the former is good, but is showing its age, and the latter has impressed me so far just from how it's handling the source material while simultaneously introducing new elements
(a Wither Storm!? Wow!!! Just wow!).

I'm still waiting for them to release Telltale Games' Jurrassic Park digitally on the One so I can play it.

 

It's a great game and series, but 'choices' affecting the overall 'outcome' is all an illusion in the first season. The second is much better in that regard, but I wasn't as emotionally invested in the characters which made it easy to not care when people
died, haha.

 

I haven't finished S2 yet of TWD, but so far, I'm inclined to agree with you, DA - I'm not as invested in the characters as I once was.

As for the whole "choice" aspect, you do still have choices, they just don't affect the outcome of the overall story in the end. Yes, I understand it's kind of a bummer that you're "railroaded" to a finite conclusion, but that doesn't make it any less good,
IMO, especially if you start the game off not realizing that in the 1st place, which was the case with me when I played it back on the Xbox 360.

 

^I played the game under the impression that choices did severely impact the overall outcome so yeah, it changed my opinion of the game and it goes against it as a negative.

Play season 2 and there is about 4 different endings, yes that's right, your choices actually change the ending of the game which is what they kinda stated season 1 was about.

Also with season 1 there was at least 2 characters that will die no matter what you do and again, that's not choice, that's illusion of choice.

 

I never finished Season 1 on the PS4 for 2 reasons, amazingly easy platinum and I'd played Life is Strange 1st.
