Operating Background Music

I am finding this to be exceedingly difficult. The only real instructions I've found are here, but they don't seem to match reality:

How to play background music and audio on Xbox One

Launching Groove through the multitasking Window seems to just open Goove in a snap window. If I unsnap Groove, the music stops rather than continue to play in the background. There are also no control options in the multitasking window as there are in the
instructions.

Basically all I want to do is watch TV (with the TV audio muted) while I play my only music through Groove in the background (not snapped). Is this even possible?

Background music

I cant get background music to work. Wireless display preview app lags, media player doesn't recognize hard drives, and dlna stop working.

As far as I was aware background music for groove is only on the Xbox one preview but will hopefully come soon, the only one I have heard that works is Pandora

Hey, Olorin11! Groove right now is only available with background music in the Preview Program. Pandora is coming soon with this update. There is an app you can search for called Simple Background Music.

Because this is an issue with the apps just not being available yet, I'm going to lock this thread. Once these apps update to the general public, if you are still having issues getting it to work, please post up a new thread so that our community can work
on helping you out. Thanks for understanding!

In the new update it stated "Background Music: Today’s update brings the ability for the highly requested feature of Background Music, which lets you listen to your favorite music in the background while gaming on Xbox One. The Pandora app, launching soon,
is the first of many partners who will support Background Music, with Groove Music, iHeartRadio and other apps coming later."

Pandora is coming soon, as stated in the update release. However, there is one current App that will work with this function called CAST, it is a free music app. You can use this now until the other music apps are updated to work with the new Background
Music feature.

The Xbox apps do not currently support playing music from a USB drive for background music. There are some 3rd party apps that have this ability like Simple Background Music Player.

MS Win8 Games

Absolutely! Just hover over the top-right corner (or if you're on a tablet, swipe from the right) and that will bring up the charm bar. Choose Settings and then Game Options. In that menu you can adjust not only the music but also the voice and the sounds.
