Opening Windows Media Center leads to Black Screen.

I've been using the Windows Media Center feature of my 360 everyday for ages now, but suddenly today, when I try to launch it, it just gets stuck at a black screen, nothing else there.

I can still press my controller's middle button to bring up the system menu, but if I try to do something with it, like go back to dashboard, the system just seems to lock up.

There was no update that happened, it was just out of the blue, hadn't installed or changed anything.

Will I have to reformat the whole Xbox? I don't see a way to try and reinstall WMC.

    :)

Does the new Media Remote work well with Media Center Extender?

Cool, thanks. I'm not so much concerned with opening Media Center as I am with the playback controls once in Media Center.

How to setup windows media center for Xbox 360 to connect to PC

Hello Andrew J, My name is Khaji I am the independent advisor and I will be happy to help you today.

To set up Windows Media Center for Xbox 360 to connect to your PC, follow these steps:

To begin, confirm that your PC meets the system requirements for Windows Media Center and that you have a compatible version of Windows installed (Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 Pro). Additionally, make sure your Xbox 360 console is connected to the same network as your PC.

Enable Windows Media Center on PC: On your PC, go to the Control Panel and open "Programs" or "Programs and Features." Click on "Turn Windows features on or off" and scroll down to find "Media Features." Expand it, then check the box for "Windows Media Center." Click "OK" and wait for the feature to be enabled.

After enabling Windows Media Center, open it from the Start menu or by searching for it. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the initial setup. During the setup process, you may need to enter your region, select the Xbox 360 as the Extender device, and choose the media libraries you want to share with the console.

On your Xbox 360 console, navigate to the "Media" section and select "Windows Media Center." Follow the on-screen instructions to set up the Xbox 360 as an Extender. You may need to enter a setup key provided by Windows Media Center on your PC.

Once the setup is complete, your Xbox 360 should be connected to Windows Media Center on your PC. You'll be able to access media files, such as pictures, music, and videos, stored on your PC through the Xbox 360 console.

Thank you very much for your patience and understanding! If you need anything else, do not hesitate to contact us again.

Windows 7 + Xbox 360 Driver not Working

I take back what I said. Windows Media Center doesn't allow you to listen to music outside of keeping Windows Media Center open. I just want my music, man. Why's this such a hassle?

Trying to sync up new 360, with laptop

To get your lap top and your Xbox 360 to communicate, you'll need to install Windows Media Center on your computer. If you have Vista Home Premium or Ultimate, you already have it. Once you have done that, you'll need to sync your Windows Media Center software
    to your 360.

You can do this by going to Media section your Xbox 360, and then selecting Windows Media Center. You'll then be presented with instructions on the screen to which you Xbox 360 is attached. Most of this process is automated, but you will need to perform
actions on both your console and your lap top as the on-screen instructions dictate.

There will be a point where you'll be given a code on the screen to which your 360 is attached, and you'll need to enter this code into your lap top.

Once that is completed, your lap top and your Xbox 360 should be synced, and you're ready to play your content. You can do this buy using the Windows Media Center feature on your Xbox 360 console. Windows Media Center will communicate with the software on
your lap top. Remember when doing this that you can only play content that the Windows Media Center installation on your lap top knows of. If you have files which you have not loaded into your Windows Media Center library, you won't be able to play them.
