    Opening NAT through 2 routers?

Here's how I have my home network running. I have an **** TG862G Xfinity modem. This is the router/modem combination. One of the ethernet cables is running to my bedroom into another router that is a Linksys E2500.

Both of these have a wifi hotspot running so that rules out a "bridge" mode option in this case since I have a wireless network in my bedroom due to a weak signal from the modems wireless.

Anywho, I've been trying to open the NAT on my Xbox One. I know it's possible as I have an open NAT on my Xbox 360 via the same setup. I've forwarded the ports on the **** TG862G with the Linksys E2500 IP address and even put the Linksys IP into DMZ in the
main modem. The ports are all open on the Linksys E2500 as well which should route to the modem and also find open port. I've even had the **** TG862G modem with DMZ enabled from the Linksys router and DMZ enabled for the Xbox One under the Linksys router.

No matter what I do...my NAT says strict. I can't even view the detailed network stats as I'm told I need to be online to view them...which is odd since I'm logged into my console online when I attempt to view it.

    :)

    Router capable of open NAT?

I have the Home Hub 3 but the software is diabolical. I have the newer software with the bugged port forwarding that is not going to be fixed. Bah.

    Router capable of open NAT?

Anyone any suggestions on a good router for BT Infinity that's capable of running two XB1s and an X360 at the same time with an open NAT on all of them? The Home Hub 3 just throws a wobbler no matter what way I set it up.

Thanks to MS and BT being useless kants I'm going to have to spend yet more money just to do something the 360 already had no problem doing. Getting a bit sick of this shoddy arsed console now but that's for another thread.

Xbox One NAT strict - Belkin

    Sorry to hear that WarMast3r3256,

I have one last thing for you to try, I noticed on my own personal router. When I port forward for a open NAT on XBL.

My router says everything is sucessful, but my NAT didn't change. But when I opened the right ports and then I rebooted my router. Then my NAT changed to OPEN. So after you went through and opened the correct ports, did you reboot your router?

Cannot figure out how to get open NAT, tried everything

Need model of the modem , its not a router too is it ? (gateway maybe) anyway , hard enough getting open nat on one router let alone 2 ...I would start at the 1st box in the loop , the modem , plug the xbox straight in and make sure nat is open . If you
cant get open nat at box 1 no way to get it at box 2....then I would hook up the 1st router and check nat there ....and so on... and you cant do the port forward AND have Upnp enabled as that is conflicting instructions...

Might not be much, but try to make sure both of your have an open NAT if you're going through a router.

    Strict Nat

Forwarding ports on your router--whether via DMZ, UPnP, manual forwards, etc.--simply will not get you open NAT in a double NAT situation. The reason is that the upstream, Internet-facing NAT router run by your school (and, thus, outside your control) is
almost certainly not configured to forward those ports through to your own NAT router. Though an over simplification, think of a NAT router as a wall that allows your Xbox to see (communicate) out through it to the Internet but prevents any devices outside
the wall (i.e. on the Internet) from seeing in through the wall to your Xbox. When you forward ports (again, this includes DMZ etc.) on a NAT router, you are essentially punching holes through the wall so that your Xbox can be seen from the outside (placing
the Xbox in the DMZ essentially removes the wall as to it), which is what is needed for open NAT.

Your problem is that your Xbox has TWO such walls between it and the Internet--the inner wall (closest to your Xbox) is your own Netgear NAT router and the outer wall is the school's NAT router. No matter how many holes you punch through your inner wall
(or even if you tear it down using DMZ), outside devices (i.e. on the Internet) will not be able to see your Xbox because of the school's outer wall, which only your school's IT folks can punch holes through. Again, this is a gross oversimplification but
hopefully this helps you understand why double NAT makes port forwarding on your own NAT router alone (i.e. not also on the upstream NAT router) ineffective.
