"Opening" disc tray

Discus and support "Opening" disc tray in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; Hey guys, I've got an xbox 360 slim and its been working fine for about 2 years, however its recently started displaying "Opening" on the dashboard...     "Opening" disc tray


    Hey guys, I've got an xbox 360 slim and its been working fine for about 2 years, however its recently started displaying "Opening" on the dashboard when I lay it horizontally (without actually opening the tray). Is there anything I can do to fix this?

    my black xbox 360 has stopped making a ping noise when turned on or off

    oh yeah, forgot to add, my disc tray is also having a problem sometimes where when i try opening the disc tray, the power button flashes as normal but the disc tray doesn't open. it opens after the 2nd time trying.

    the disc tray opens normally, but during I play the xbox return to dashborad itself and you see the words "opening in progress", that pretends to open the disc tray, but is not so.

    Make sure you give the disc time to spin down before you open the tray, it's not recommended to open the tray while the disc is spinning. If this isn't the case, it is likely a hardware problem.

    Hello Michaelnaber,

    Try to follow the steps described here :

    1: Turn off the machine (with no disc in).

    2: Turn on the machine by opening the disc tray.

    3: Physically force the disc tray back in with force. Not so much that you snap the thing or knock it off its runners, but enough that the motors stop retracting the tray.

    The tray should stop ajar for a few seconds before the machine composes itself and continues to retract the tray.

    4: Reboot the Xbox and the drive should function normally.

    Where can I get an original xbox console fixed?

    Just a tip to get the disc tray open on the original Xbox console.

    There is a small hole at the side of the tray into which you can insert a straightened paper clip to open the tray.
