Open world Conan game coming to Xbox One

Conan Exiles is an open world survival game coming to Xbox One.

Sounds a lot like Ark Survival Evolved to me but anyone who's played a Conan game will know what to expect, loads of naked ladies probably lol.

Conan - Stuff is happening!

For those of you who love Conan (Conan the Barbarian is still Arnold's best movie, IMO - love that music) here is some news that might interest you.

Conan Exiles

Crom, I have never prayed to you before. But please, grant us CONAN THE CONQUEROR!

So, it looks like we are having a Conan Comeback, so to speak. I'm not sure about the game. There is literally no information that I found. Open world survival game? Set in the Conan universe? Um... ok. I would rather an action adventure, heavy on narrative... but whatever. Maybe it will turn out well. It does say it will come to consoles so I guess I'll keep this on my radar for now.

Also (and to me even more exciting) is the prospect of a NEW Conan movie staring an aging Arnold as the warrior king sitting on the throne of Aquilonia with a "troubled brow". If it's a hard R and has the right director it could be awesome.

Hopefully we will get a proper Conan game at some point.

 

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Doing a medieval game without fantasy this is great and fresh for an open world RPG.....

But the "kickstarter thing" might be a problem to see this game coming out on Xbox one....I hope it will.

Nope your thinking of Conan Obrian, The game is Conan the barbarian, there was a film a while back starting Arnold Shwarzenegger and a more recent reboot which Imo wasn't as good

 

I've watched the Arnold Schwarzenegger movies a million times as a kid. I hope this game is good.

Conan the Barbarian is a character from the 1930's created by Robert E Howard in his swords and sorcery pulp fiction novels.

Brilliant read even all these decades later.

Had a huge revival when they cast Arnold Schwarzanegger as the lead in "Conan The Barbarian".

In fact even today most people consider "Conan the Barbarian" to be the definitive "Conan" though that film was to Robert E Howard's character what "The Witcher" video game series is to Andrzej Sapkowski's novels: Inspired non-cannon Fan Fiction.

Over the years there were the Marvel Comics and some absolutely beautiful black and white art in the Magazines (Savage Sword Of Conan).

The covers would often feature a scantily clad woman in distress. Sometimes the stories wouldn't even contain a scantily clad woman. Amusingly a female editor once replied to a customer query (they used to print letters and replies at the backs of the
magazine) "Why did issue X have a scantily clad woman on the cover but not in the story"? To which she replied "Because we seem to sell more copies when we put a scantily clad woman on the front".

One of the things that makes the Witcher series so successful is that it's not the game of the film. It's based on a series that's been around for years and has a solid foundation as far as the world that it is set in and everything else goes.

A Conan game should benefit from the same ability to draw upon the rich treasury of decades of fiction that has preceded it.

Should be a great game.

What could possibly be more entertaining than 'people hitting other people'?

Obviously "People hitting other people with swords"!

Conan = Arnold Schwarzenegger. I always remember that battle with the massive snake, haha, that was epic!

I'm a little confused though it says 'Featuring a single-player mode, Conan Exiles is described as being a multiplayer game "first and foremost" on either public or private servers.' So is it multiplayer in the sense of say Dark Souls? Or exactly like Arc?

 

Same guys who made the "Age Of Conan" MMO on PC.

I expect it will be more like "Ark" where you're in the world and have to survive rather than "Dark Souls".

When "Ark Survival Evolved" releases as the full version it's supposed to have a "Lone Survivor" mode where you have to do it all yourself.

 

I liked the Arnie films but he's so far from being Conan... he's too Germanic. lol The last guy they cast was also pretty off-base... too uh, exotic. I read a coupla Conan's from a giant leatherbound book every year. The Complete Chronicles! I love it. That
and the Bard series by Keith Taylor are my go-to annual fantasy feasts.

But I haven't seen anyone really capture the realms of Conan in films or games yet. "Where are my clothes!" The 360 game was pretty hilarious. But yeah, they're never quite violent, oppressive, and sexy enough, while also being fun. Heh ha

I'll keep my eye on this though. It could be good. =)
