    Onslaught first impressions and yours?


    So I've been playing the new map pack for the past few hours and I'm pleasantly surprised at how much better these maps are compared to the default maps.

    -

    FOG: This maps really good fun to play. Feels like a night zombie map very spooky and eerie. It's a good size map, with CQC action in the middle within the tunnels and weedy area. With the outskirts giving you the chance to have some longer
    range gunfights. The Mike Myers field order gets you on edge! The music starts and you know he's coming. Problem I noticed is that the health of Mike Myers seems low. Seen it 3 times and each time he's been gunned down within 15 seconds. Also, there's a hole
    in the middle of the map, its very hard to see and I fell down it while in a gunfight.

    Ignition: Remake of Scrapyard from MW2. Not much to say but its great to be playing this style of map again. The only downside it that they added a underground tunnel which slightly ruins it.

    Bayview: Another really good fun map. I would say this is a large map mainly due to there being at least a dozen buildings that you can enter with multiple levels. One annoying issue with the buildings is that they all seem to have metal
    detectors which go off as you pass them. As for the little train cart thing that automatically circles the map. Sounds like a great place to camp.... Nope it's highlighted bright orange on the minimap.

    Containment: Personally not to keen on this map at the moment. Your team spawns on one side of a bridge and they spawn on the other. There's only 3 possible routes to get to the other side of the map. Well, only really 2 as if you go the
    central route over bridge its certain death. As for the other 2 roles I found them to zig-zaggy with constant IED's. I could see this being an ideal sniper map for traditional sniping in which each team of snipers stay on their side the the bridge.

    Mavervick gun: The AR versions pretty decent. Love the iron sights and in general feels very similar to the AK12. I rarely use sniper rifles but tried out the sniper version and its horrible to use mainly to the recoil, feels similar to
    the the 50 Cal from COD4.

    First Impressions

    This is going to be weird, but with the music and fast pace of the action, its almost as if the game is inspired more by the movies inspired by the games. lol

    Basically from what I've played, if your not going to play online with friends, definitely don't buy. With a few patches it could be better. So far I would give it a 6.5/10, patch would make it a 7. It's rough around the edges so it needs some more polish.
    Also, most of the guns seem so light and weak, not a big fan of that but the Melee is pretty dope. It's one of the games that should be in a $40 brand new category but it's all good. Haven't touched the MP yet.

    Lets just say if I had played a Demo of the maps I would not of bought them, my opinion... disappointed I usually love the Map Packs from the franchise.

  6. Just a few of my thoughts: Ignition: is probably my favorite out of the four but its a little unsettling that IW released content for Ghosts that features an exploding space shuttle on the anniversary of the Challenger tragedy. I know there as been an envelop
    pushing event in their game story that you can opt not to play (airport scene from MW2) but this IMO is a little over the top but not enough to make me not play, just enough to make me ask "Why today?". As for Fog after playing it, it even seem to fit Jason
    with a machete than Mike Myers with an axe.

  7. All the new maps are bull&$@!!12299291!!! Actually, the whole MP is bleh. Extinction is good, however. The new map for extinction is pretty fun so far. Difficult, but fun! Onslaught first impressions and yours? :D

    xD34THM4GN3TICx good observation..I didn't realize that, nor has anyone mentioned it to my knowledge. Probably just an honest error. The devs at IW were in elementary school or less, when Challeger disaster happened in '86..So I would be inclined to presume
    there is no underlying context or subliminal message here. All it is, is simply bad timing.

    Even still, if this hits the news and gains steam, heads will roll at Activision and/or IW, especially when lawsuits are filed.

    [/quote] Well, I myself was even around when it happened but I just happened to be checking my news feed on Facebook and saw something posted about the Challenger I just connected the dots because I saw it after I played a few games on Ignition and thought
    there might have been something to it maybe for publicity or as you said it could just be poor timing but I thought I should just put it out there

    I doubt this very much as the timing is far too coincidental. If they featured two skyscrapers being hit by a plane or a missile September 11th, 2030, wouldn't you say that was obvious?

    I ran through all of the maps in a private match. They definitely cater towards those who complained about maps being too big. I'll give a better review when the maps go into rotation.

    They should have had Jason (Friday the 13th) instead of Mike Myers. It would have been really cool to have some off map zombies wandering around, or even a briefcase operation that called in a horde of zombies to attack your enemies.
    Otherwise this map is great.

    I really wish they would stop rehashing old maps. Sure they changed it up but as soon as I started walking through it I knew it was an older map. If they are going to rehash maps then do so with some of the classics from Call of
    Duty 2 and 3. Some of the best maps were on those two.

    Another nice map. It seems that the GD has given us more stuff to climb on, nothing more annoying than walking over to a crate or wall and finding you can't climb on it even though it is only a foot or so off the ground. The trolly
    is more of a hinderence than a help. Can't tell you how many times I've killed more than one person hiding in it. First time on the map I killed four enemies all in ghillie suits sitting on the train...

    I actually like this map the best. The missile in the middle on the bridge messes with your radar, even underneath. Plenty of roof tops to get on. No worries about one side being held down, not with the spawn system putting you with
    the enemy. Good for CQC, mid range and long distance fighting.

    I actually like both versions of the gun however I noticed it works differently in Hardcore than in Core. Maybe it's just me but it seems much more accurate (same setup) in Core. I could shoot
    at someone and it would hit, wether I get a marker or kill, but in hardcore I shot several times before it even registered a marker.

  15. ChainSmokingBob to answer your question, no..You're taking it to a whole another level, lbvs. One event killed three thousand ppl, and was just over a decade ago. So for any form of entertainment to mimic or recreate that (especially on the anniversary)
    would be swift corporate suicide, imo.

    Another event happened nearly 30 years ago, and tragically took six lives. I am not downplaying that by any means, just saying that the majority audience of COD Ghosts is less likely to relate to that.

    Who knows, maybe it is an intended dig at our space program (or lack thereof)...Beyonce was foolish enough to reference Challenger in a song on the radio recently...and got heat for it, eventually apologized.
