    Only showing a black screen on start-up


    Because of the rubbish aspect ratio, I changed the TV connection from 'auto' to 'HDMI' in the video settings on the console. Now it refuses to show anything but a black screen, but audio still comes through fine. I've tried doing a reboot by holding
    down the power button until it shuts off and I've tried booting it in the lowest resolution settings by holding down the eject and power buttons until it turns on, but it still shows a black screen after saying the settings have been reset to 480p. There's
    only one HDMI port on my TV, It's the only TV in the house, and I've also completely swapped the HDMI cable for a new one.

    I tried all of those things with no success. It is still starting up, showing me the Xbox One start screen and then going to a black screen and just staying on that.

    im part of the preview program and the new dashboard has been crashing my xbox constantly, causing me to reset it and now, when i try to turn it on, it shows the logo and xbox one, loads, then black screen, help please?

    Same here, just updated my Xbox last night, everytime I start it up it only shows a black screen... Pressing home button only brings the shutdown menu, if I choose "report a problem" it shows the Xbox Feedback screen but then goes back to black

    I'm guessing the posters first language isn't English. I suspect the xbox starts up shows an error and the screen goes black.

    Try leaving the xbox at the black screen and powered on for around an hour or so and it may hopefully boot up fully.
