Only Plugging In An External Hard Drive When I Want to Play a Game on it?

The only sure fire way would be to buy an external hard drive, install the game to this device and only plug it in when you want to play it. You could also use the external drive to install other games you don't want the children to have access to.

This is the only way since it's not possible to hide games. But games installed to an external hard drive won't show if said external drive is not plugged in.

Thanks for reaching out to the forums. We understand you have questions on using an external drive. To be honest it wouldn't hurt anything to leave it plugged in. As if you play games off it often the constant unplugging and plugging back in will cause wear
on the USB ports. If it isn't connected the games you have installed will show under your ready to install list.

Okay. Well, i would actually be unplugging the usb, its a wall outlet powered external hard drive, and i need that outlet for other things often. So it would stay plugged in, just not powered. As long as i can just play the games on it by plugging it
in, and not break anything by unplugging it. Thats all i needed to know, thanks!

Ive got a logitech g920 do you think it can be related to whats going on ?

Should i plug it only when i want to play with it ?

Cause except a 8T external hard drive my wheel is the only thing connected

Also my hard drive is an official seagate i think teh brand but its the official xbox hard drive brand

unfortunately no the june update is for external hard drive support for the storing of games only (once the hard drive is formatted by the xbox one when it is first plugged in only games can be transferred to the external drive) so no music and video can
be placed on the drive, but Microsoft have stated that usb drives will be in a future update for video and music play back they just haven't given us a timeframe yet.
