  1. Online Scams....What can you do?

    Hi,

My son was recently scammed by someone online( xbox360 user name "[Mod Removed]". He was told that for $15 he would be invited to a Challenge Lobby. In this Lobby he was going to be given everything in the game (COD: Ghosts), which consists
of gold weapons, camo, etc. My son used one of his $25 Amazon Gift cards. The user said he would only take $15 and then proceeded to take the full $25 (he said there was no way that he could take just $15, even though he never said this at the time). The
user has not followed through and told my son that it would happen in a couple of days. Since then he has defriended my son and won't return any of his Messages.

Is there anything that can be done? I know you can "report" gamers through the console, but wasn't sure if anything else can be done.

This is also a warning to parents to remind their kids not to believe people online and on Xbox 360. Luckily, this was "only" $25 and I don't expect to be reimbursed, but would like some kind of suspension or something for this scam artist. He even has
a YouTube account where he has stated that his account has been banned in the past and that he had to get a new account.

    Thanks.

Again, the gamers user name is "[Mod Removed]", so be aware.

    :)

Why is it so hard to find gameplay WITHOUT commentary?

Hope it does. I'm surprisingly well liked(to my surprise). I was just trying to explain to the OP that the guy who bought an XB1 at $750, that turned out to just be a picture was scammed. He tried to insult me by saying "The guy wasn't scammed. I don't think you know what a scam is". I posted the definition of a scam and proved him wrong. Then he was just like "Oh, it's like talking to a brick wall, you don't understand that the seller didn't scam him".

If he put me on ignore, that isn't my fault he wasn't willing to accept that the seller, indeed, set up a scam.

Hola Legit Elite! I recommend you to file a complaint. I know that you have good intentions but mention Gamertags is not allowed in the forums.

  5. OK, sorry about that. Yes, I was just trying to get the word out.

Is there a way to file a complaint other than through the console itself?

    Thanks.

  6. Scams are nothing new. Just tell your son not to reply to messages with content the same as or similar to what he received.

Also make a note of and report the gamertag of anyone sending this type of message.

And as stated, do not name gamertags on the forums. Report players through the console even if it means that you have to log in on your sons account and file the complaint yourself.

    Hi,

My son was recently scammed by someone online( xbox360 user name (*do not post GT's in the forums) He was told that for $15 he would be invited to a Challenge Lobby. In this Lobby he was going to be given everything in the game (COD: Ghosts), which consists
    of gold weapons, camo, etc.

That is considered CHEATING and would only get his account permanently banned from XBL. The only way to get all that content is to EARN it yourself.

My son used one of his $25 Amazon Gift cards. The user said he would only take $15 and then proceeded to take the full $25 (he said there was no way that he could take just $15, even though he never said this at the time). The user has not followed through
and told my son that it would happen in a couple of days. Since then he has defriended my son and won't return any of his Messages.

Your son has just learned a very hard lesson. Never trust anyone on XBL who says they can get him something for no effort.

Is there anything that can be done? I know you can "report" gamers through the console, but wasn't sure if anything else can be done.

Nope, that is it. File a Complaint via the console against the offender.

    Thanks.

Again, the gamers user name is "(removed)", so be aware.

I agree with El Negro JimBob: Your son thought he could cheat and get things he hasn't earned. Filing a complaint on the console is the only way.

  12. I've seen this stuff many years now in the COD online community. Sadly, nothing can be done. It's best to never give any info out online, to anyone, no matter what they might be offering. It's usually always a scam.
