    It should be the same as on PC. On PC, you can play online multiplayer and only pay for internet. But you have to pay for Xbox Live Gold to play online multiplayer on Xbox. Please change this on the Xbox Series X so we can play online for free. It would
    be awesome.

    Unfortunately that's prolly not going to happen. You need to realize that they money that you pay for the Live Gold account helps pay for not only the servers that you have the ability to log in to play multiplayer games but also the people that help keep
    it running. Nothing comes for free. It's a business just like any other business that has to make some money to keep everything running.

    Unfortunately, I don't think it will change since playing online isn't free in any console, but maybe in some years it will be.

    Hi Trenton!

    The Windows PC platform for Xbox does not require Xbox Live Gold subscription for online multiplayer. It only applies to Xbox consoles. I am afraid that it has always been the case to play online multiplayer with Xbox consoles, you need a subscription unless a game offers free multiplayer without Gold subscription.
