Online game I purchased went to the wrong Xbox console

Did it go to the wrong Xbox or the wrong account? If your account is shared, then the Sim 4 Island Living download will have gone to the Home Xbox (assuming it is set to download new content automatically). If the account is shared between your son and
daughter, you can simply download the content from her Xbox.

Look the game on the store with the wrong account, normally you have a case with "gift", click and put on the good account.

I'd assume you have set your son's console as your account's Home Console. Games you purchase are automatically downloaded on the Home Console of your account.

On the store page of a game, you can also click a menu button (with three dots), and choose to install it on your (other) devices.

For that to work, you will have to signed in on that console with your account.

If you did, you can also choose other consoles to install to.

But you need to know this:

Games you buy can only be unlocked by your own account, or the console that you set as your Home Console.

So if your son's console is set as your Home Console, only your account can play the Sims game on any other console!

Which means: If you bought a game on your account that is intended for your daughter, you need to change your Home Console to her console. But that also means that your son is now unable to play your games on his console, as it's not your Home Console anymore.

If you wanted a specific kid to play a game you want to pay for, I suggest to use the gifting function to buy a game for a kid. That way the kid "owns" the game on their account, and they can play it anywhere on any console.

If you buy it on your own account, the kid can only play it on that one console that you designated to be your account's Home Console.

Sign into your daughters account and see if you can see the purchase for Sims 4 there. If not, then you may have purchased the game on the wrong account.

At that point, you can set up
Home console sharing to get the game shared to the correct console.
