Onkyo Surround Sound set up for Xbox One

Love my surround sound system and I get Awesome Surround Sound when I play games and when I watch Bluray/DVDs.

When I switch to apps like SlingTV, Netflix, Amazon and HULU, I get only two channel/speakers working. I've seen posts about this from two years ago. So, I am hoping you have figured out a fix for this already.

    How do I fix this?

    :)

  2. Let's see your "Set-Up".....

    I play xbox on

    LG 60" Plasma

5.1 surround sound (Definitive speakers) with Onkyo amp

Can play it on my L shape couch or my giant "love sac" www.lovesac.com it is awesome.

Overall I have a decent set up. Can't play an FPS without surround sound!

  3. Xbox one audio question?

If you have you system set up Cable box>Xbox One>Onkyo receiver>TV you can set your Xbox to output 7.1 Uncompressed surround sound through HDMI. You only need ARC through terrestrial TV, SMART features, and if you stream DLNA directly to the TV, but since
you can do all that through the Xbox One, you'll be fine. Onkyo Surround Sound set up for Xbox One :)

XBOX ONE audio question (Center Speaker)

This is a known bug and Microsoft has acknowledged it as well. The solution to a fix, for now, is to set the Xbox One to stereo sound when connecting it to a home theater system. Your receiver will do the work and split it into the right channels. If you
use the 5.1 or 7.1 you will not get sound from the center channel or surround speakers. I was trying to get help from Onkyo yo before stumbling across this thread. Any other settings I tried and it wound not output the correct surround sound I wanted.

Xbox One unable to detect that my receiver supports DD5.1, DD7.1 or DTS

I initially set up my system with my cable box/dvr connecting into my Xbox One via HDMI and learned that's currently not supporting surround. So I switched back to it going directly into my Onkyo 818 and switched the Xbox to connect via HDMI into one of
the game ports. Needless to say, I was shocked to find that playing Xbox Music I was only getting stereo. Turns out configuring the Xbox audio to output uncompressed stereo instead of uncompressed 7.1 or 5.1 gave me surround sound (go figure... not exactly
intuitive!!!). Not going to say the sound is comparable to what I had with my X360, but at least it's surround now.

I'm also having this issue. TiVo TCD716320. Receiver: Onkyo HT-R390. Using the beta surround sound option.
