  1. Ongoing issue with Scalpers

    Hi,

I’ve never seen such platantly overt & shameless grifting for a commodity that has become arguably necessary to remain sane theoughout the pandemic lockdowns.

    1) I want to know NOW what Microsoft is doing about scalpers who used bots or purchased the maximum 2 consoles per household prior to release.

I have dozens of screenshots from every 3rd shopping site where private citizens are selling the Series S for >$800 and the Series X for $1200 or more. Scalping it some circumstances may not be illegal, but regardless of its legal implications, anyone who
spent no more than $100 on depsoits preorder to receive $800-$1500 through eBay auctions is morally bankrupt. Any Microsoft shares as much of the guilt—because yhr problem was foreseen by insuders and explicitly discussed in articles on release day. I want
to know what Microsoft plans to do for customers that have perpetually felt tortured by seeing “Out of Stock” on BestBuy, Walmart, Target, & Microsoft Store sites while eBay, Amazon, Mercari, Facebook Market, & Craiglist etc. have thousands of XB X/S consoles
selling for 2x MSRP for the last 4 months.

I feel that Microsoft purposely kept specific specs secret fron the public prior to launch with the exception of the once amazing pricetag. Like the ultimate price many of us paid through eBay scalpers ($500 for the Series S), we learned that the Microsoft
price—like the console’s “next” gen capabilities—were too good to be true. Specifically the S...being inferior my XB1-S in every conceivable measure.

its important to note, that within weeks if XBS & PS5’s release...Sony already had USB 3.0 hub adapters & external USB plug-in cooling fans on the market. Whereas the XBS X/S had nothing. I noticed issues related to my Series S overheating before online
articles were even posted warning about the X. I was lucky that The XB1-S and XBS-S shared the same height dimensions, so I centered it within my XB1 cooling fan dock. That used my single front USB port. I needed the rear 2 ports for my Seagate/Xbox 2TB HDD
& a new WD 3TB Passport HDD since Microsoft failed to mention that the advertised 512GB formatted drive only offered 364GB...which is exciting for the 5 games I’m able to fit. The other 70 games occupy my external drives—including CoD: Cold War which my XB
said could only be installed internally by deleting/making space unless I installed the XB1 version due to slow transfer speeds between my SATA HDD and the USB 3.0 port.

I now realize why you included no USB-C port on the console despite the tactical use on the nee controller. The addition could’ve been done so easily. My Sony Xperia Smartphone from
2015 had one of the first USB-C charging ports on the market...and nearly all electronic devices have them or thunderbolts today. But an external HDD transfers @ 10Gb/s using a dual end USB-C cord. That’s probably fast enough for these games...its
double the 5Gb/s offered by traditional HDD’s with micro-B out to USB 3.0 in ports. I’d expect no one would purchase that $220 ‘proprietary’ Seagate 1TB SSD expansion card—first because it’s a type B standard physical SD card dimension with type C SD card
format (or something similar); and second because it’s price is >50% the cost of the entire console. The same White Xbox/Seagate 2TB HDD is $25 more than the non-Xbox version...but has 100-200Gb less storage.

    2) I want to know what Microsoft is going to do for people who’d rather watch the new controller explode because it’s identical to the XB1 controller with the smallest exceptions including: visually undetectable reduction in dimensions that won’t accept
ANY replacement parts from XB1 controllers like faceplates or grips or single unit snap-in batterys. I cannot even guess why Microsoft felt it necessary that the new battery cover should be identical to last gens...with the exception of the two top teeth being
shifted 2mm inward to prevent gamers using EVERY 3rd party attachment from XB1. Collectiveminds offered affordable FPS strikepaks with 2 paddle and 4 button attachments that will no longer fit because the holes have been shifted 2mm. Even if we snapped the
teeth off our attachments, we can’t plug their micro-USB cord into our controllers because we suddenly have illogical USB-C ports for (fast charging) under the pretense that we can’t use wired controllers (which doesnt explain the 5ft+ charging cord offered
with the $25 optional powerA battery pack). So Microsoft, I think you owe your loyal customers who owned at least 1+ of every xbox gen console an explanation. Or a free XB1 controller of their choosing. Am I wrong to assume that the plan was to force customers
into buying the remaining last-gen Elite 2 Controllers? They were ludicrously expensive then...and are just insultingly overpriced now.

You can’t build up so much hype about a secretive—but allegedly mind blowing—nextgen console that’s SO incredibly different and better than XB1...that old accessories are forwards compatible & new ones are backwards compatible & all games can be played on
both, although some games are visually ‘optimized’ for the X/S, but no games have been made exclusively for the X/S, and since no 3rd party accessories from XB1 can fit the next-gen controller to compensate for its total lack of ingenuity or addition of any
internationally loved feature like remappable buttons or trigger locks or paddles, Microsoft aggressively advertises the warehouses of unsold ‘Elite Series 2 quick to drift’ controllers from a last-gen console as THE answer for the discerning gamer whose
Microsoft-made problem is their simultaneous inability to fluidly play games without their necessary wired paddle attachments from a last-gen controller with a USB cord that Microsoft had already arranged to replace using their self-insinuated and currently
obsolete & notoriously avoided unreliable controller that Microsoft lazily repurposed as the only wireless option with paddles and a generous 6month warranty extension in the likely—nay, guaranteed—event that it will break.

    3) Now that the next gen consoles are TOO advanced for the traditional second HDMI output for home media, and the Xbox Series S is spec’d lower than the XB1 X & arguably equal to the 5yr old XB1 S, unable to accomidate the same number of games, has a laubdry
list of acknowledged issues without suitable workarounds, is still out of stock everywhere while others overpaid despite lacking any single next-gen only game...is it REALLY a ‘next gen??’ Or is it just Xbox 1.5beta?

I might sound like a whining baby, but I dont feel like this was a “good faith” effort on Microsofts part. It felt more like coercsion & manipulative behavior to jump start sales of past failures and prevent 3rd party interference on yet another.

I think Microsoft could afford to part with some type of credit for those that soent too much for something too dissappointing

    :)

Possible source of Kinect Adapters found!

Looking forward to hearing more information. If legitimate and works then this could solve the issue with scalpers.

    Purchasing Series X

‘Thanks’ for the info on the console is available at Walmart! It’s being sold through them by scalpers for about $1K!!! NOT doing it. We’re past the point of COVID excuses , the scalpers have plenty of inventory! Stop feeding the scalpers and sell to your customer base! I won’t be buying one for more than the suggested retail of ~$500.00! Im done waiting and searching for rumored online release dates only to be wiped by scalpers in minutes !!!

Well, what a waste of time that was

All true. But it doesn't excuse it. And it doesn't mean there aren't actions companies could take to combat it. They just choose not to.

And as I alluded to in my post, the people that purchase from scalpers are no better. If there weren't a market, it wouldn't be an issue. Too many people are selfish and self-serving.

I had a scalper tell me I just don't understand how capitalism works. LOL And then stated that if it wasn't for them, nobody would be able to get one. Really, and exactly how does that work?

Scalpers create nothing. They offer no service. They bring nothing but greed to the table. But what they don't get is that what goes around does indeed come around. The real people in their lives will come to see the kind of people scalpers are (you can't
really hide your true nature forever) and little by little drift away, leaving the scalpers sitting alone on piles of their money. Enjoy that.

    Ongoing issue with chat.

Ok I figured something out. Apparently it has something to do with both consoles being in standby mode, and signing in on both of them at different times. If I'm upstairs playing games and I come downstairs, the Xbox downstairs automatically recognizes me
and signs me in. Then when I go back upstairs, I have to sign back in on that Xbox. I believe this is when the chat stops working upstairs. But I haven't been able to pinpoint the exact moment it stops. From that point on, nothing I do upstairs will fix the
chat. I think it's because the console downstairs is what's causing the problem upstairs even though I'm no longer signed in downstairs. I guess the console still thinks I'm there somehow? I don't know. Anyway, last night what I did was go downstairs and turn
that console completely off. No standby. Went back upstairs and did a hard reset and boom, chat is working again upstairs. Obviously having both consoles on standby mode and signing in to both consoles back and forth somehow messes up the chat. I'm now going
to keep the downstairs console off. No standby. I'll keep this thread updated to see if this fixes the problem permanently.
