There is absolutely no excuse foe the delays in getting this working. This is one of the features that convinced me to purchase this console and the fact that it is still not working is nothing less then fraudulent advertising. The fact that Microsoft has
no concern about and has provided no updates on progress made has truly pushed me away as a customer. I continue to suggest PS4 to friends and family and would return my xbox if possible but unfortunately I believed that they would have this working in a
timely manner and foolishly allowed my return time to period to pass without returning my system.

I truly hope that someone that has the financial resources sues Microsoft. Not that the financial aspect would hurt them but to allow duped customers to receive a refund and have the mainstream media report on the deceitful nature of the Microsoft team.

    Oneguide in Canada?

I talked to Support last night and they said there was no ETA for Canada. I am surprised since they advertise it on the Canadian Site without a "note". During the launch night on the 22nd, even the xbox rep that was at the store said it worked, but only
    for Rogers and Bell.

  3. OneGuide in Canada?

Based on the Live TV Setup Guide wording: "Channel lineup and specific show information is currently available to U.S. customers only." This gives the impression that they might plan on expanding it but there are no definitive details at the moment.

I'm sorry your upset. The trouble is that Microsoft has to work with Cable and Satellite providers to have the features working properly in Canada.. and with the amount of money Rogers (for example) has spent on their "Nextbox" hardware/software, it is understandable
that they may not be easy to work with. I'm sure Microsoft has many concerns about how this is affecting their worldwide customers (not just Canadians) , and no doubt are working to get it resolved. I agree they should be more forthcoming with information
on when that will happen though.

Thank you for your reply Reaper. I still am very frustrated as this issue has still not been corrected or even been discussed publicly. I was wondering if it is possible to use your standing in the Microsoft community to request an update on the status
of the OneGuide and report it back here. This will now be the third post I've made without an official response from Microsoft. I'm not expecting an actual fix for this immediately but just an update on progress made with an estimate of release. I truly
feel that this has been put on the back burner and development stopped long ago for this.

Any information on progress made will put my mind at ease that I made a mistake in trusting Microsoft to hold true to their promises.

    Thanks

  6. I'll post your request in the ambassador's forums and hope for a response, but our standing isn't much higher than yours I'm afraid. We're just users who are generally knowledgeable about Xbox and are trying to help answer some of the communities questions.
Support doesn't generally answer us any faster or with any higher priority than you guys, but maybe putting it in a different place will help. I'll post back if I get a response.

  7. Hey Hellspawn, I just wanted to give you a heads up - I haven't received a response from support yet about my question, even in the ambassadors forums. I'll keep trying to get more information for you, but as it stands I think that the explanation I gave
above is about as good as it's going to get.. They have to reach an agreement with providers here before they can use the EPG data, and I believe there in lies the problem.

Im sooooooo glad I looked up this in the forums.. I finally had a giant itch to seriously go out and buy the xbox one.....as i have been watching xbox on videos on live about all that this console can do....and in no video anywhere is it stated that it works
for USA customers only. For microsoft to keep bragging and promoting this console as the Ultimate all in one console.... that does everything you want in merging tv/entertainment and gaming.....which it cannot even do in canada...is complete and utter false
advertisement, ya sure you can watch tv through the console...but it cant switch channels unless you're in the USA ....not to mention Ive been reading that it cannot even read a simple USB flash drive for music or movie purposes?? Ya real good innovation
and cutting edge tech Microsoft. I WILL NOT BUY YOUR CONSOLE UNTIL IT DOES EVERYTHING YOU HAVE ADVERTISED IT CAN DO......which mean you will not get my money.....hope that motivates you...... So glad I did proper research... end of rant

  10. Sorry Hellspawn, still no details. I'm as eager as you are. I'm not sure if you're aware, but you can enable some of the functionality if you change your consoles location to United States in the settings. It enables turning on/off the cable box with the
other components and also allows for voice control. The big problem is that none of the cable channels line up properly with the US carriers, so you may have to say "Watch Fox" to watch CBC or something like that - but it is possible. I have mine enabled just
to have it control the receivers power functions. It should also allow for PVR control, but I haven't tried that yet. Sorry I can't be of more help. I'm also in the preview program for new updates, so if I see it come along through that I'll let you know as
    well.

  11. @CPL Recoil - They didn't advertise it could be used with USB drives (Flash or otherwise) to play music or movies. To the contrary, they openly stated it couldn't be used with those at launch but would be looking into it later on. You may not be aware, but
there are risks associated with allowing users to plug in any drive they wish to play content and they have to take those into account. I imagine we'll see it sooner than later, given the quickness that the internal hard drives are filling up with content,
but that is really the primary concern of most users, not the fact that they can't plug it in to play content. As for the TV control aspect, that is one thing that they did advertise and unless you were reading the fine print (which stated it was only available
in certain markets at launch) you would be disappointed. Unfortunately Microsoft doesn't control the rights to the IPG's that cable and satellite providers use and they need to be able to license them. I can only speak to the Rogers side of things, but I can
tell you as I mentioned above that Rogers has invested millions into the NextBox hardware and software it's currently using and I have no doubt they're difficult to negotiate with because of that.

    Reaper,

I can completely understand that deals need to be made with cable providers however, even those of us that hope to use OneGuide in Canada with a HTPC and use Over the Air signals are being punished. There should be zero delays in getting the guide data available
to those of us using Over the Air. Windows 8 Media Center is currently a fully supported set top box available in Canada but there is simply no proper OneGuide data available to make it useful.

    FreeJac1310,

I could be mistaken as I have not worked with this function of Media Center: I hear you can manually set channel numbers. So, would it be an idea (albeit not what is wanted) to pick a station's zip code then manually input the stations to the same? I do
realize this is not PNP but.. if it works... Does it work? Let me know

    -Cheers

I've tested this and it does work, but....

You need to pick an area (zip code) that has the same (or more) channels than what you have. I couldn't find one, only with two the same. Then yes, you can manually map your channels to the ones in the guide. This would allow you to say goto Fox and have
it tune to CBC as an example. There are two problems with this setup. 1. The guide data becomes completely useless but can use the Surface to get around it. 2. More importantly your Live and Xbox music subs no longer works because your xbox is considered to
be in a different country. Not a very practical workaround just to get use out of this spare HDMI port that you paid an extra $100.00 for.

  15. @FREEJAC1310 - I'm Canadian with my Xbox One set up for United States and have no issues with my Xbox Live sub. (I admittedly don't have Xbox Music any more, for different reasons) I'm not sure what you mean by it no longer working - I can use all related
    features & online gaming.

It certainly is something we shouldn't have to use a work around for, but as per

    news.xbox.com/.../ent-xbox-one-tv-tools-and-smartglass
it looks like we won't have to wait *to* much longer. One can hope.
