One X Power Supply Problem

Hello, I have a power supply problem with my Xbox One X 1TB. After about 30 min of gameplay the console shuts down unexpectedly. After that it would not turn on for quite some time. I looked into the
issue online and some people suggested to try a different power cord. I bought a new after-market cable which I plugged straight into the wall (previous cable was plugged in an extension). The same thing happened with the new cable. Console shuts down after
about 30 min of gameplay. I was playing Watchdogs 2 both times. Someone suggested to check if the same thing happens with different games. I tried different games and the problem seemed to have disappeared. That was two days ago. I tried to turn on the console
today and it would not turn on at all. I've owned the Xbox since February. No problems so far, have played a lot games on it.

Xbox turns on then off instantly

Please see the following pages, depending on your console type, to troubleshoot this problem. The most likely issue is a failing power supply or a temporary glitch with your power supply.

Please unplug the console and power supply (if you have one) for 10 seconds to reset it and then try to boot up again:

Xbox with 220V DC

Aftermarket AC cables do usually work (you could even borrow them from other devices in the house), but they should be rated for 10A just to be safe, otherwise it affects the console's power draw, causing problems such as this.

Unexpected shutdowns either point to overheating, or a power supply issue.
The first thing to do is to give your Xbox some breathing room, so it is able to vent out hot air (it mostly exhausts out the back) and take in cool air. If that doesn't help at all, then this is a

power supply issue.

If you bought it in February 2018, then you should still have plenty of warranty time left for a free repair. Every console comes with a limited 1 year warranty. You

Looks like I will have to send it to be repaired. The cable I use is 13A and the Xbox has plenty of room for ventilation all around. Thank you for replying.

Internet Expert provided the most common causes but there's one additional thing I'd like to check with you. You said it only appears to happen with Watch Dogs 2, so could you:

• Try uninstalling and reinstalling the game;
• Moving the game between storage devices (i.e. if it's on the console's internal drive, move it to an external USB hard drive)

and see if the issue persists after doing one or both those things?

It would be odd for the console to only be doing it with a single game.

That said, if this doesn't change anything (or you're still unable to power on the device), definitely go ahead with the in-warranty repair option as suggested by Internet Expert above.

 

Hi. The funny thing is I completed Watch Dogs 2 a couple of months ago. Played the game for 40+ hours and did not have any problems. I just recently decided to return to it and this whole thing happened. Unfortunately, I am unable to turn on the Xbox.
