Either way I would try removing and adding your account back to the Xbox as a first step.

The options found in (Settings + Sign-in, security & passkey + "Change my sign-in & security preferences") are as follows:

Make it fast, make it magic: The kinect sensor will recognize you in the room and will sign you in. However other people can still sign you in using the controller.

No barriers: Simply select a profile and sign in instantly.

Check that it is me: You can use your kinect sensor to sign you in, but a passkey is required to change certain settings, purchasing items from the store and will be required if the kinect fails to recognize you.

Ask for my passkey: A passkey is always required for sign in, purchasing items or changing your settings.

Lock it down: Your Microsoft account password will be required for sign in, purchasing items and settings changing.

The first time that he logs into his new Xbox One X during setup, it will be set as his home console. He will still have the option to set it back to your Xbox, after setup is complete on the One X, as long as the home setting has not been changed more

You can only sign in to one Xbox One console, or one Xbox 360 console, at a time. If you try to sign in on a second Xbox One or Xbox 360 console, you'll be automatically signed out from the first console.

There are a couple of ways you can prevent this from happening:

• Remove automatic sign-in for your account when you turn on your controller. See Sign in to your Xbox One with a personal
  controller for more info.
• If you have a Kinect, choose “Ask for my passkey” or “Lock it down” to force manual sign-in, as the other options will sign you in automatically as soon as your Kinect recognizes you. Go to Change
  your sign-in preferences on your Xbox One console for more info.
