  1. One simple question...

Can I ask one of the brainiac Microsoft employees one little question?...

Why does the xbox one have so many issues with NAT when it's advertised as an amazing online gaming machine?

What is the point in banging on and on about fantastic multiplayer experiences when this abomination of a console doesn't allow ANY form of online gaming without hours of fannying around with routers, settings and stress! Since my purchase of the xbone, I have
yet to have more than 15 minutes of online gaming with my friends, I have done all the steps that the (poorly named) 'help' section requires me to in order to keep an open NAT, yet somehow, my box reverts to strict as and when it sees fit. I have bought a
one for my sons xmas, yet while installing games and setting it all up (so he doesn't have to wait days to play it) it continually refuses to open the NAT!

It would appear that we're not allowed to have more than one console in the house! Only one xbone can use the ports needed to get online! Even if one of them gets online, it's only a matter of time before it gets punted back to strict NAT!

What is the point of having this machine if I can't do what I'm told it's 'best' at????

Perhaps Mr Gates should stop counting his money for a second and have his employees create an update that removes this stupid setting from the box, and while he's at it, he should fire the moron that thought a setting that restricts online gaming was a good
idea in an online gaming system!

    :)

  2. Just one simple question...

    Hello,

why do have to send my Xbox One the third time to the repair center within two months?

The last repair is about two weeks ago. Now the WLAN module of the box seems to be broken. I also got a message from the system software that the console has to be sent into the repair center again. I just discovered this today.

No, i don't want no extended exchange. Why isn't it possible to simply send me a device that functions properly within standard exchange?!? Is it for for me as customer still acceptable to send my fresh repaired Xbox after two weeks i received it back to
the repair center after i already had done this two times before? I don't think so.

The problems with my Xbox One last for two months till now. I had to have contact to the support for several hours because of many reasons.

I got wrong information from support. Instead of informing me about that the employee thought it would be better to forget about it. Maybe will forget about it too?

The support was not able to simply get my adress. I spelled it letter for letter two times. Not even then it was captured correctly.

Tracking IDs are not communicated to the customer. When i ask for it at the phone the support can't answer the question because they have massive access problem with their system. Not only one time, many times.

Is this some kind of sick joke?

I used to like my Xbox. Hopefully i get some help or feedback here. I'm not convinced that the next standard exchange will apply correctly. Although i think that someone has to look into this. And last but not least i'm massively frustrated.

I'm from Germany an had to deal with the German Xbox support. Remebering that, please excuse some eventual misspellings.

    Greetings

    willy

best option is most likely to setup a DMZ on your router and then assign both your X1's an IP address that are in the DMZ.

also, NATing is not something that MS came up with and decided to add to their Xbox platform, your router and possibly your ISP play a role as well.

and Bill Gates doesn't do much in MS anymore, think he just a board member now, he spends most of his time doing charity works and donating billions a year to try and make 3rd world countries and little less 3rd world.

It's your router pure and simple

how you even can comprehend this being the xbox that is somehow changing your router settings is beyond me.

I assure you the problem is on your end, I have two ones set up at my house and i can have them both online playing together at the same time while only paying for the digital game once both consoles can access it and play together

    One simple question...

Never had an issue here and I never once touched my router etc.

There has been a few times when I've had to re-open my NAT, but I did it on the console the easy way. I never have to do any thing else.

  9. One simple answer... if you're as out of touch with how to set up your networking equipment as you are with the rest of the times, it's no wonder you're having problems. Bill Gates retired in 2008. SMH

Do you use the router supplied from your ISP or your own one? I find it's best to use the router your ISP provides you with. We have 2 top telecommunications companies in NZ, Spark and Vodafone. Only like 5% of the time I have NAT strict, 95% of the time
I can get NAT open. Plus I didn't have to do any fancy tinkering on my modem page since my modem came directly from my families ISP Spark and that our ISP has added in special firmware it even mentions our ISP's name on the modem's home page, it's mostly Open
NAT. Have a Technicolor 852 I think, wireless n. See if hardwiring with an Ethernet port helps. Are there a lot of devices connected you your modem at home?

  11. to those who have given a helpful answer, thank you One simple question... :D ... it is NOT a 'me' problem, as I'm now on my THIRD router... I have tried my superhub2 as a stand alone modem/router, I have tried modem mode with an old netgear router and now I have tried with a
Netgear N600... each and every time I have been showing an open NAT but as soon as I try to go online with friends, it's showing a strict NAT... to me, that is NOT a router problem, I'm not too keen on using a DMZ either... think I'm just gonna give up the
idea and put both X1's on ebay

    One simple question...

i really wouldn't say it's a "problem" with your router, but NAT is just a part of networking. i work for a WISP that uses private IP addresses on most of the network because we don't have enough public IPv4 addresses to give every customer, so some customers
trying to use online gaming services have trouble because their router is doing NAT, then my ISP network is doing NAT so issues arise because by the time they get to the internet it is double NAT'ed.

welcome to the wonderful world of networking.

I feel sorry for the OP - he thinks it's an Xbox issue.

So he'll sell his X1s and buy two PS4s and discover the issue is still there - it's an expensive business ignoring sound advise/suggestions.
