    I got an xbox one as a gift, and it came with free game. After connecting the xbox, the setup is rather tedious comparing to the PS3 I owned. This is OK considering nowadays everything is "connected".

    Things got funny when I tried to get the free game they advertised on the box. On the card, it asks me to go to xbox.com/name-your-game. Once i got there the page says that the promotion expired and i have to contact customer support. The outer box didn't
    say anything about expiration.

    So I contact the customer support, which is a web based chat. The customer rep's name is Michael T. His response speed is painfully slow, it's like they type a few characters per min. Sometimes I feel like I am talking to a robot.

    After a few chats (and 10 min passed), the customer rep pasted promotion expiration info, which is on the original page that asks me to contact them, saying the promotion expired. Then they said I could get the game if i have the original receipt. I told
    them that it's a gift, and I probably wouldn't ask my friend for a receipt. Then the customer rep started asking for funny questions (at painfully slow speed). First he asked what game I like to choose from the free one, next he asked console i have. Then
    he asked what games I like to play. Which i asked, why it has to do with the promotion. Then he pasted the promotion expiration again.

    At this point I realize that I pretty won't get the promotion and he's just trying to fish out info from me. So i asked to talk to the supervisor. After 30 min, he is still "transferring". I am not whether Michael T is a real human or not.

    His supervisor Michael R eventually showed up, but my patient has ended.

    I am a long term Microsoft customer and now with products and customer service like this, i am seriously doubt that whether I should continue my service with them.

    Will Titanfall 2 Be A Timed Exclusive? Do You Even Care?

    Well Sony turned down the first one so a T2 is not a guaranteed anything in terms of success.Ubisoft has by far the worst online track record out of the big 3 from my experience.

    So wait, you got Xbox One as a gift and yet your sole experience with the product was talking to a customer rep online? Yet you still maintain you're a "long term Microsoft customer"? How about you ditch the expired (?) game token, and buy a few actual games
    before you complain?

  6. Barter it for something else OP. Or pick up some used games on the dirty dirt cheap and after obtaining say a 15 GS, then sell it.

    Experation date on game codes are about as customer unfriendly as a person upgrading his X1 for a newely released LE X1 and after giving the game code that came with the LE X1 to a friend, gets a digital theft ban.

    Nothing this gen is consumer friendly.

  7. If I don't receive the assistance I expect from livechat, I try again and usually get better service. You should definitely try again.

    Yeah,good luck with that.Phone/chat support are notoriously bad & seem to have gotten worse lately.

    Every now & then you may get someone who know's what they are on about & can help but for the most part they just tell you to post on the forums because they don't know what to do.

    Agree with BluSwirl though,you got a xbox one for a gift,if the promotion has expired then so be it,all promotions expire eventually.

    Just buy a few cheap games .

    The xbox isn't the problem,it was customer support that soured your opinion & that's only because you didn't get what you wanted.
