Am I the only one who was severely upset when I went to make a profile and use the free trial of Xbox LIVE Gold? Why do they now require credit card info? It never used to be like this. Not to rip off the Credit Karma commercials, but why do they need credit
card info for a FREE TRIAL?

    :)

if you take it then it should automatically be activated for a month. in your account page in the top right of the xbox home screen you can see how much time you have to make sure it activated.

This is just part of the requirements to use the 30-day Gold trial as stated in the Gold Trial FAQ. At the end of the trial, unless you cancel
the subscription the card is automatically renewed so you aren't inconvenienced with having to try and reinstate your Gold subscription after the trial ends. This is typically how a lot of trial subscriptions work. The reason you are trying it because you
are interested in buying it not because you want a freebie. If you don't like it then you cancel your subscription so you aren't charged. If you do like it then you continue using it as is and don't have to worry about re-signing up for the trial and your
membership carries over from trial to paid.

You are also limited to three (3) one-month trials per console. This is to keep people from abusing the system by having free gold access and just creating new accounts each month. Hope this answers your question.

  7. The website is currently only set up to deal with purchases via credit card and PayPal. Even if something is free, the site requires a payment method because it only sees that an item is being "purchased" and needs some sort of payment method on file. You
can always get these on the console without the need to enter a payment method.
