One Guide TV listings unavailable for Free to air.

Wow!!! That's awesome. Hopefully that guy is really a MS employee and can help out. It's pretty frustrating since I don't always have access to a TV guide from the newspaper.

I don't watch TV often, mostly my TV is for movies and gaming, but on the odd time I do feel like watching telly, I'd like to know what's on. Thanks, Phillip!!!

 

Having the same issue - Microsoft please fix this, not good enough!

Looks like we're back in business everyone - my guide started working again this morning and others are reporting the same.

I even have a couple of channel logos which I didn't have before. Would be nice if they all had logos, but that might be asking too much .

Yep, mine is no longer working as well. Worked for few weeks. Now nothing again.

 

And after being ok for a week or so, the same problem is back again.

Cmon Microsoft, surely this isn’t that difficult to fix or at least to let us know what is going on here.

Please?

 

God ****. Here we go again. Hopefully it won't take 2 weeks or longer to get it fixed this time, and hopefully when it's fixed it'll keep working.

Anyway, I got onto chat again with my previous reference number and got this:

Upon checking here on the server this feature is having issues again here on the server. And our engineers are well aware of it they're trying now to fix it as soon as possible they're already coordinating with the other servers that handles the connection
for TV channels and managing the details for it. I know you'll understand that we have separate server from them. Anyway, this might take time it might take 24-72hours or more to fix it because this is happening globally."

The explanation leaves a little to be desired, but at least it's being worked on. Apparently.

Question for you - I use my XB1 as my primary TV device. I was really disappointed to hear (early last year?) when MS discontinued working on the PVR feature they were looking to release. With this fluctuation of the EPG availability and your previous comments
about the feature being previously 'not supported', based on your knowledge and in your opinion, should I be preparing to emotionally move away from my XB1 for watching TV?

My Xbox is my primary TV device too. In fact, I only bought it last November for its media capabilities, and have no interest in gaming on it when my PC's way more powerful.

At this point in time, it looks like we'll be OK once they get it fixed - I would expect an announcement and AT LEAST 6 months warning if the EPG is going away. I mean, they're still selling the tuner with the guide as an advertised feature! The comments about
it not being supported anymore came from the Xbox Support Twitter, though they backtracked pretty quickly - being a US-based account, my guess is they had no idea what we were talking about initially regarding the official MS TV tuner and the FTA EPG.

With that said, it's been super frustrating having done the research and bitten the bullet only to find a key part of the functionality I wanted from the device has been so flaky. There really aren't that many other good options for someone who wants one device
for FTA TV, Netflix, Stan, Spotify, Youtube, catch-up apps, Foxtel Now (yes, the 'Play' app isn't great, but it's workable for watching A-League/Cricket/F1/Supercars etc and hopefully they'll update it with a 'Now' version soon), as well as having the ability
to stream stuff from my local network using DLNA. When weighing up the options between the XB1, Apple TV, Foxtel Now Box and the various Fetch devices, the Xbox wins.

I sincerely hope they get this fixed soon and we have a trouble-free run, because it'd be a real shame if Microsoft's recent focus on gamers came at the expense of media users. The XB1 (particularly now the S is relatively cheap) really could be an awesome
media centre if they just put a bit more effort in. It's pretty darn close already, and not having to change sources all the time cancels out the few grievances I have. Hopefully the PVR being cancelled isn't a statement of intent, and while it'd be nice to
have, I'd take having the ability to set reminders over PVR any day. We can but dream, and getting the guide back is more important right now anyway. Hopefully MS realizes the potential here and keeps supporting/adding features.

I may have said this before, but I really don't understand why the guide information (particularly now that the PVR stuff's on the back-burner) can't come OTA like basically every TV. Would save a lot of hassles. /rant.
