I am a bit old school, and I just wanted to vent my frustrations and ask some questions.

Why do the new consoles only come with one remote and no game? What can it possibly cost Microsoft to make one more remote? And how much can it possibly take to make an extra game to put in the box? Honestly! Everyone is so concerned about making an extra
$50 on the pieces it takes for players to actually play the game. (In almost every aspect of life today) It's very frustrating!

Not everyone has unlimited funds. And even if we did, why does Microsoft (or anyone for that matter) need billions of dollars profit? I know that the games are not necessary for the kids to have, but why do they have to be so damned
    expensive?

Why is it all about money all the damn time?!

    :)

I think its a hard trade off for us gamers. For every thing that gets added in, like an extra controller or a game, it adds to the cost of the console. The more expensive the console, the less people who will be able to afford it. The less people who can
afford of course means Xbox gets less consoles sold but it also means we get less gamers to play with and possibly less motivation from publishers. So there this battle between cheap and expansive features/items out of the box that is at play.

The good thing is that there is generally lots of bundles available that come with a game or games, and sometimes even extra controllers, so the users who want that little extra thrown in can go that route. Also today, we have access to wide libraries of
free games to play the day we plug in our console to the internet, something we didn't have yesteryear and then there is game pass and ea access that makes it cheap to play games. Every gamer is different but I would rather have a cheaper entry point and
then buy the extra in the long run then a more expensive entry into the console life.

  5. Explain why the cost would have to go up? You are telling me that it cost $499 to build an Xbox one x without anything special? I know you need profit, but why is it that when a new game comes out it's almost $500, but when the next one comes out you are
able to knock $200 off the price? Is that because even at $300 you're still making profit?

It makes no sense to me. It's greedy on somebodys part.

  6. Hi there GlancingChutoy5,

If you want the best explanation to how it works, take an Economics class. I'll give you a few highlights on how it works...

In all of history of consumable goods (this includes electronics, vehicles, cell phones, DVDs, etc.), the newest models have always come at a higher price to own, than the 'previous year's' models.

Each feature one adds to something, comes at a price - either an add-on price, or added to the base price.

The new items also have development and marketing costs to cover. Once an item has been on the market for a while, the marketing cost tend to drop since the initial creative is done and updating is easy.

Manufacturing of the item also becomes streamlined after a while so pricing to get the components created goes down, which in turn can allow the company to drop the price, and still make the same profit margin on it.

Just look at automobiles, cell phones, and other luxury items... Today's base model vehicle would be considered a luxury automobile 10-20 years ago.

Keep in mind, there is nothing that says companies have to drop the price on older models. Companies could easily keep the older model at the same launch day price. It would mean there is a large per unit profit margin, but few units would sell.
Or they can drop the price on the older model and make a reasonable profit margin from selling multiple units at a lower price. That profit can then go into development of new products, or improvements to the current products.

It comes down to Supply and Demand.

Everything comes at a cost, and the cost is often dictated by what the market will bear.
