OMG, what is the deal with all my Xbox One updates!!?

I am on a limited data per month. At 30 GB I never have an issue but I swear that these constant updates are killing me. I was on a mission trip for 3 weeks, come home to play a few games and had like 12 GB of updates and that is on top of all they other
updates before that.

What is the deal? Is this going to be the norm now, having like 10-15 GB of updates on all my games and for the console itself?

Going through the forums, just, wow. So many issues, so many pages of problems... No resolutions or accountability. Getting embarrassing. Oh your game isn't reading? Try powering your system off and on in a manner that any person in their right mind would
find ridiculous after spending $500 dollars on a system. Yeah, totally cool. Lmao... c'mon guys, give me a reason to resuscitate myself back into the life of the X and not loathe turning the console on every day.

I've been a loyal Xbox Live Gold member since launch date. Things have been fine. I have however recently invested over $1000 dollars in the last 6 months or so on a system that can only be easily summed up as a box of flaws. The Kinect is great, the
looks is wonderful. However, it would be fantastic if things WORKED. I'm at the last straw of defending the Xbox name as a gaming system. I'll likely never let it go as I'm an entertainment junkie, and it helps with several of my needs, sans the lack of
streaming .avi playback support, which, come on, should be a lay-up. Microsoft needs to seriously get it together and admit their failures or derive resolutions.

What am I even upset about? Not too much. I'm a really patient, understanding individual that works in the technical support industry. I know problems. But when you sit down on your day off, actually with the time you wish you could be spending with
a loved one or somewhere else but the situations are against the odds, to try and PLAY A GAME of all things, then spend half an hour of server errors/matchmaking disputes (Do we blame EA or Microsoft for partnering with an inadequate provider? FIFA 14 primarily,
but the problem obviously reaches into other games) just to finally find someone, and then your interface EXITS OUT TO THE HOME SCREEN, I would feel just in claiming Microsoft responsible for my, or anyone else's, TV replacement when you throw your controller
at the screen out of primal rage. $1000 dollars. To waste time. UPDATES are only going to go so far at this point. We need an overhaul, or some of what people in my line of work like to call ACCOUNTABILITY, for what's going on. I have dealt with the issue
of apps/games just abruptly intrude your sense of well-being, and close out. I know this isn't just my console, and if there is ever an "update" that fixes this problem of what might just be lack of system resources, I will be appalled.

 

It's pretty much the norm now.

Developers are always adding or fixing things on their games.The console itself is always being updated with new things.

I'm on unlimited data but I feel sorry for people like you who aren't.

So what would you say the norm would be monthly?

I mean honestly I only plan on playing GTA, Fallout 4, the Witcher 3 and Halo MC for about 4-5 months, maybe I can stay good with data??

 

Also, I noticed when I did not have a Gold account, I played games with no updates, only on disk.

If there a way to disconnect my LIVE account on the One but keep it on my 360? I'm a nerd, still like 360 Live with Team Fortress and other stuff

 

You could just delete your account from the xbox one & keep it on your 360.You can then just re download it on the One when you want but you can have it on both consoles at the same time,even be signed in on both consoles at the same time.

As for the downloads,difficult to say.

GTA,they are always adding little things but not on a monthly basis,Fallout is still being updated & has dlc coming so even if you don't buy the dlc you'll probably still have to update.Witcher 3 would just be small patches now I would think & as for Halo
MCC,thats anyones guess lol.

 

If you have no way to upgrade to unlimited Data for your internet then I would recommend playing your One games offline, only connecting back to get absolutely necessary updates.

A 1gb patch is almost considered small these days.

Last time I tried playing Halo MC it would not even let me play the campaign until I updated it, the update was for MP

So afraid this is gonna screw things up for me because I notice a HUGE increase in updates and the sizes over the past 3-5 months.

 

Turn off the wifi of the console and pull the Ethernet cable. Don't let the One connect to Live at all.

You should still be able to play the single player portion of games.
