OMG - what happened to COD!

I was not going to buy this but I decided to get it, I am glad I did, the games campaign is brilliant, and the multiplayer is so smooth it is unreal, 100x better than ghosts and this one has been in development for the past three years.

 

Any game that has a terminator type of voice that keeps telling you that you "unstoppable!", "headshot!", "kill steak!" etc is never worth buying. And COD being right at the top of the list.

I do agree with Parzival we way overdue good WW2!

 

When I think of COD now all I can think of is an endless sea of of 13 year old boys. The only new shooter I want to see is Rainbow Six because of its quality, replayability and that it generally draws a more mature demographic.

 

Haha Azrael! You consider Wolfenstein a WW2 game? You mean like army of giant robots, plasma rifles and metal dogs that laid siege to Stalingrad in 1942?

 

the constant camping is what killed it for me ...i mean really! you gotta just sit in a corner to get kills?? COD died after black ops 1....also COD games are over run with hackers and the devs. do nothing about it.

 

CoD is hit and miss. I hated MW3 and Ghosts and couldn't play them for more than a few weeks. I've been enjoying Advanced Warfare a lot. I do wish they would bring back a WWII game though.

I Lol'd at Sword Styles post on page one. So true, so so true, for me anyway. Though in fairness to advanced warfare, I enjoy it a lot more than I do Ghosts. Ghosts was the worst in the series in my opinion. I absolutely suck at it too, which doesn't help
lol. My biggest gripe is that:

Ghost had a cliffhanger that wont be followed up by until 2 more CoD's release. Well, one more now. Then if Ghosts 2 has another cliffhanger (like the Modern Warfare trilogy), its a further 3 years wait :/

 

I've thoroughly enjoyed CoD:AW, at least up until this week. For some reason that I haven't been able to figure out, I haven't been able to access the game's multiplayer all week. Every time I try it either endlessly attempts to connect to Xbox Live or tells
me that the service is unavailable. Either way, it's complete bull because the home screen is still obviously connected to Xbox Live. I want my CoD fix and this is getting frustrating... :'(

Many people simply presume that all COD's are the same because the series is produced yearly but they themselves never play the game and simply write it off as being repetative through ignorance.

I stopped buying anything CoD after MW3, but I have rented and played several iterations of it since then. In fact, I actually bought Ghosts when I got my X1. I knew it was a stupid
mistake when I did it and I was right. Although, in my own defense, the store didn't have much else at the time and B4 (hadn't heard just how broken that was then) was sold out.

I'll probably rent this new one, at least for the story. If at least that part of it is OK, I may even rent the next version... CoD: Just Give Us Your Platinum Card Edition. But
yeah, aside from not playing this latest one, I've pretty much written it off as being repetitive... through experience.

@OP, if you want a back to basics WW2 shooter that works and is done well, go play CoD 2. WW2 shooters have been done to death.

 

I just played the story of CoD2 and just about an hour of multiplayer which is all it took for me to realize it wasn't my thing.

It's a challenge for something fresh to be brought to a franchise without inadvertently going over the line and altering what the core players seem to love about it.

 

CoD 2's multiplayer was barebones, but decent for a couple bursts of old school shooting in a WW2 setting.

CoD 3's multiplayer was a step up from that, bringing vehicles and rewards for killing online opponents.

What bowski said, the franchise has been hit or miss recently, Ghosts was the worst of it. I think Treyarch tries to add more variety into CoD with customization and co-op than IW. After Ghosts', I don't know if AW would be my thing anymore.

As opposed to the realist games where if you got shot you just need a moment to concentrate and regenerate health?

It's set in World War 2 and that's pretty much your main criteria you need for a World War 2 game no matter how much you don't care for it.

 

I find you get more bad language in COD than in Halo. I love COD BO2 Zombies though. I watched the new breed zombies youtube vid on microsofts official xbox channel. Looks cool but scary. I also like Halo too.

 

besides the cheaters (hackers/jtags,lag switchers and boosters) the games playable i fairly enjoyed the campaign multiplayer is broken currently though >if your wondering i found out most hacks from ghosts work in AW because its using ghosts base coding
structure ya they work with a minor tweak ive been spying chatter over on [Mod Removed] (modder community) and the information is credible !!
