Old Xbox messages are being deleted for no reason

So I wanted to check my old messages on my Xbox one from like 3-8 years ago, but whenever I go to old messages on my Xbox one and click into a conversation all the previous messages are gone, but I can still see the last message sent before I click into that conversation. I then decided to check my old 360 to see if the messages are there but everything was gone, nothing was left. Is there any reason why all my old messages were deleted? If you need pictures to better explain this I’d be happy to send them as I’m not that good at explaining this situation.

Hey sorry for the late response, but I’ve done that multiple times over the past few months and the problem still happens, it’s not only the Xbox one, it’s also on the Xbox app and other Xbox ones I have at other family’s houses. If you mean restarting by holding down the Xbox button on the controller then that’s what I’ve been doing.

Sorry for the late response, but if that’s the case, then how come I can still see certain message from say 4 years ago but I can’t see others from sooner or later than that?

ok I have just gone and deleted all the messages I had on both the 360 and the Bone via the Smartglass apps and now for the first time in many days I can access the message tab on xbox.com

Not sure if it is an absolute coincidence with timing it right with a m$ fix or whether the error message was being caused by one of the old message threads on the consoles but it might be worth checking if deleting all the old ones solves the issue for
you
