    So i used to have an account on the original xbox live and when i got a 360 i started a new account (this one), this was before gamer scores and getting cred for how long you have been on live, i have tried to log into my old account but it doesn't seem
    to exist anymore or rather the GT seems to belong to someone else, i logged into my old email on this site and my GT didn't exist anymore. anyone know what happened? i used to have thousands of post with that account on this web site under that name, I know
    this was over a decade ago but anyone know what happened? i figured it was mine since it was linked to my email

    Removing an XBL free account

    I've got two Windows Live IDs, and I'd like to merge my Xbox GT from one Live ID with another. The trouble is, back when I got the second live ID, there was no mechanism by which to transfer the account, and rather than letting me transfer the original
    GT, it asked me for a new one, because the original GT was taken (despite me being the owner of both Live IDs.) Once I created it, I hoped there would be a way to change it over, but now I can't see a way to remove the new, XBL Free account GT associated with
    the newer Windows Live ID so that I can associate instead the old XBL Gold GT with it.

    I've crawled all over the "My Account" page, but haven't seen any easy way to do it short of suffering through a phone call to MS.

    It has something to do with it being a verified answer it seems. For some reason those get posted multiple times.

    Several years ago a lot of gamertags were "recycled" if they hadn`t been used for many years.

    Nothing xbox one related shows here yet.

    You are a tad confused. I also continue to play the same GT started in 10/2003, but I migrated the account to the 360 when I got the console. You are talking about something entirely different: trying to recover an account that has not been used since
    2007. MS annouced recently that they were starting a process that would free up GTs that had not been active in awhile. What they are using to determine "inactive" they did not say. Regardless, the only chance you have is to call support and go thru their
    account verification process...either via phone or email. Both require the answering of many questions related to your account. I would use the email 'cause there is a text box to put just anything you can think of...put in some names from your friends'
    list for example. Hopefully, every piece of info you put in might outweigh the other questions that you don't know the answer to.
