    Old name, different profile?


    Ok, I want to use my old gamertag from my 360 on my xbox one, but not the same profile. Here's the thing, I've deleted the old profile from my console and all my friends and I still can't use the gamertag. So does the profile save in the system or
    something?

    Also to add to what Smwutches said, as the reason behind that name being there is unknown I'd suggest changing your password just to be on the safe side! Old name, different profile? :)

    Go to http://account.live.com and you can change the name there. Not sure why it wouldn't have the correct name already though.

    If I understand you then you would have to pay to change your old gamertag to something else to free it up & then pay to change your other tag to your old one.

    Deleting the profile from your console doesn't free the tag up as it's stored on Microsofts servers.

    [/quote]This is correct. My gamertag was originally a different name. After I paid 800MSP to change it to this name, I could use my old name on a second account.

    No its not possible to transfer acheivements between profiles.

    What you should have done when creating your live profile was sign in to your old profile using your console then select 'join xbox live'

    This would have converted your offline profile into a live account which would have meant you kept all your saves and acheivements.

    But because you didnt do this you now have two separate profiles.

    If you havent bought gold yet you could sign into your old profile again and convert it but you would need a different email address and would have to choose a different gamertag name.
