Old Games Servers Down

I know old games are news from yesterday, and in modern fast paced times no one gives a damn about the old stuff anymore.

But for some of us playing old games brings back memories, or some simply can’t afford or have access to newer material.

Of course we can play the old games but some games are very limited nowadays because the developers shut down servers. And I understand why.

But maybe there is a possibility that Microsoft picks up the pieces and redirects those needs to their own servers. There aren’t a lot of people playing the old games so it wouldn’t take much, and it wouldn’t use a lot of recourses.

The benefits for gamers are obvious. More games to play the full content and get 100% of the achievements.

Benefits for MS: more sold old games from the marketplace and happier gamers. Also an additional advantage over it’s all time “enemy” Sony.

Feeling all Nostalgic.

They may have older games that still have servers up, but are they owned by EA? Every year they seem to release a list of servers they close down for old games

 

Xbox Live 360 Servers Shutdown Question.

It won't shut down for a while. The backwards compat games on the one still use the xbox 360 servers. They have future releases for the backwards yet. If they shut down the servers, we lose all these backwards compat games as well. Some game developers might
shut down their servers, like older sports games from like 5 years ago do not have active servers.

There are many older games on the
Backward Compatibility list - the list grows regularly, and for many, the servers are still active.

It's still up to the developer.

 

But you know that is hard for the developers keeping old games servers online, since they got new games and became expensive keeping old servers games online. Microsoft cannot have the servers, because they belong to the developer and not to the console
platform.
