    Old Games Crash on Series X


    I continually encounter an issue where old games (360, OG Xbox) crash shortly after booting, like I often can't even get past the main menu.

    The game starts normally but then always freezes while the game's ambient audio continues for about a minute before the game crashes back to the dashboard.

    It happens with EVERY single older game I have installed, whether on external or internal storage. I've tried hard resets, reinstalling the games, and a factory reset. All to no avail.

    I don't get an error message, just a crash back to dashboard. All the games are on the BC list and worked on the Xbox One. And I tried unplugging the external and playing something off of the internal drive but I hit the same problem.

    Think I should send it in to Microsoft?

    Did you get any error messages? Also, did you make sure that these games are on the Xbox Backwards compatible list?

    Are you using an external hard drive?

    I tried everything suggested but no dice. 360 and original Xbox games keep crashing a few minutes after booting up.
