old gamertag shows up next to new one

both my new & old gamertag show up on my profile. my old gamertag was Wydea, i changed it to PrncssLydea. when i look in my profile on both the xbox mobile app & the account app on my console it shows both usernames. how do i fix this so only my current gamertag shows?

i asked fellow xbox gamers on reddit & they said i should sign out of my account then sign back in, which didn’t work.

i contacted xbox support & they advised me to factory reset my xbox, which i did but it didn’t fix my problem either.

Thank you for contacting the Xbox Support forums. To ensure the privacy of your account, I have deleted the gamertags that were listed in your original post.

Regarding the error that is being seen, I understand that your old gamertag is still showing above the new one you have changed to. Before we attempt to troubleshoot further, can you please login to your account at Microsoft Account Sign-In and confirm that your previous gamertag is not set as your first name or last name? I want to rule out this possibility before attempting other fixes.

Suggestion One: Remove your account entirely from your Xbox console. This will go beyond signing out of the account and signing back in. For steps on how to do this, please view Add or remove a Microsoft account on an Xbox console

Suggestion Two: Confirm that you do not have any messages in your inbox from the Xbox team on your Xbox console. Users that typically have two gamertags showing on their account may have details regarding the issue directly in their Xbox messages. This will include fixes for the error and how to move forward.

Suggestion Three: If you have tried everything listed above, try contacting support once more at Xbox Support - Contact Us. You may inform them that you have tried all the various steps above and explain that both gamertags are still showing on your account.

Hello, did you complete the $10 payment for changing your gamertag?? Since you said the new and old gamertags show up next to each other, it sounds like you went into your profile and added it there instead of paying for a new one. I could be wrong, I would check for payment first.

PickleRick is the old gamertag that shows up in the menus. is the new one that I oaid for that shows up everywhere else.

Nope still got my old gamertag on there and I did pay for this one tho when I click "Choose your new gamertag" it shows my new one but when I back out it still shows my old gamertag.

Hello,Terminus808 sorry to break the news but she might have changed her gamertag. Changing your gametag gets rid of the previous gamertag. So if you search for her previous gamertag only her new one will show up not the old one.
