    I'm trying to help my girlfriend regain access to her gamertag/account she created on her first 360. The problem is she doesn't have access to her old yahoo email address that was originally linked to her Xbox live account. We do still have her gamertag/profile
    on her 360, but we have to kind of trick it into logging in by exiting the login window as it's connecting to live. That's the only way we can keep getting achievements, exclusively local. I guess my question is this, can we link a new email address (That
    we actually have access to) from the Xbox 360 that has the original profile? I'm hesitant to get a Series X eventually if we can't access her old profile.

    The only way for someone to of gotten your old gamer tag would have been to get your account information for that gamertag then go in and change that gamertag.

    And then change there gamertag that they have on an account already to your gamertag.

    Or if you have not signed into that old account in a certain period of time then they would close that old account of yours and recycle the gamertag.

    Are you sure that the gamertag was not just attached to an old email address of yours that you dont remember?

    kinda same issue here.

    so two years ago i deleted my ms account now two years late got a xbox one and created a new account but now i want my old gamertag back so thinking my old account had been deleted i tried to change my gamertag to my old gamertag but got a message that
    "that gamertag has already been taken" then i searched about that gamertag and found out that my old account hadnt been deleted yet and then when i tried to log in to my old account it said " there is no account by that email address". so i guess that old
    ms account got deleted but not the xbl account as i can still see my old gamertag,acchivement,account description and all.so is there any way to recover that old xbl account or the gamertag now by deleting that old xbl account so that gamertag be available
    to put in my new account?

    im searching for a solution too.let me know if u find one.

    Can I completely delete a gamertag?

    aagsmith answered correctly, but there is a way to get your Gamertag on your old account; you can change your new account to a different Gamertag, and then change your old account's Gamertag to your desired one.

    Hi,

    You have to unkink any email from your old gamertag.

    Then unlink the actual gamertag with your email account.

    And finally , link the old gamertag to your email account.
