Old Gamer Tag

Long before Microsoft Accounts I used to have a gamer tag that seems to still be tied to my old email address. However, I cannot login to this gamer tag because it is not tied to my Microsoft account. Is there a way for me to retrieve this gamer tag?

Without an email address or password you will not be able to access the account.

you can also not delete an account,it will remain active.

That means you cannot use the gamertag on the account you are using now,even if you could access it.

All i want to do is delete said account and use that gamertag. I dont see how that should be an issue seeing as it is my account. i can give all addresses. And if it is hooked up via the microsoft (live,hotmail,msn,etc) i dont see why if i dont give personal
information to a rep why i cant prove its me.

 

Your first step would be to go here https://account.live.com/acsr as long as you know what the email address was that was associated with that account you can try and fill the form out there and if you do not have access
to any of phone numbers or email addresses that they want to send the account verification to then you would need to say that you do not have access to any of these and answer the questions to the best that you can remember then the account recovery team will
look at your answers and if you answered enough correctly the will send you a reset password email to the email that you would put in when answering the questions if you do not answer enough correctly and still have access to a console that the profile was
on previously then you can contact xbox support and they can escalate it up to their escalation team with some more info about the account and the console that it was on.
