OK Microsoft -- time for your next big move.

Phil Spencer: PS Experience was "A nice event" but we have 2015 games too.

He said he watched the event, and thought it was well done. At the same time, however, Spencer said: "I feel good about 2015 for Xbox."

He
added: "I'm very confident in our 2015 exclusives. Some have been announced, some have not. 2015 will be a good year for Xbox fans."

 

While Phil Spencer may be right that their 2015 line up may be a good year, people will be buying xmas systems based on what's been announced. If you want people to invest this year, you need to show them there is something to play next year rather than..
well Sony has some good games coming but MS hasn't said anything... Guess I'll get a PS4. PSx was timed very well for holiday shopping and MS should respond.

 

I agree with Peter to some extent, the Grim Fandango announcement was a console seller for two friends of mine that were looking to put a next gen console under their Xmas tree.

But on the other hand I'm not sure the announcements make much of a difference a year into this gen as far as selling consoles. Not much has changed since last gen...if your looking for a multimedia console to play AAA titles you buy a Xbox, looking for
an indie lineup, wider variety of genres and gaming bells and whistles (Now, Vita, PS TV, Remote) you buy a PS. You want it all, you buy both.

 

Watched PSX and it was a great show!! 80% of it didn't really interest me but that doesn't mean I didn't appreciate what they showed. Uncharted was my main reason to watch and although I was a little underwhelmed I still liked what I saw.

As for MS and what they have to offer, this year they have brought me a heap of games I love so have faith in them for next year and beyond. A little bummed about SF5 but we still get MK and KI which are both great fighters.

The competition is heating up and making things interesting again!! Good on the execs keeping it classy by acknowledging good work. Its hardly "kissing up"

 

Their next big move shouldnt be about exclusives at all, it should be about virtual reality and competing with Sony's virtual reality headset thats already in the final stages of development.

 

VR huh? Great if you're into it but not my thing really.

 

The VR thing is just a cool looking gimmick imo. It will no doubt be fun for a while, just can't see it lasting. Again, this is just my opinion.

 

VR is not that big of a deal. Glasses with HUD that still keeps you connected to the real world is what I wait for, but blocking myself out from that with VR is not a good thing or will the picture quality be very good on a Sony or MS version.

 

This is the thing. Also the thought of strapping that thing on your head after a hard day...not really appealing.

 

I thought VR was a gimmick too until I tried playing Skyrim with a friends Oculus Rift and my opinion changed very quickly. Even in the development stage it was an awesome experience.

When the OR gets it's retail release it'll be a day one purchase and either console releases something comparable it'll also be a day one purchase.

 

If it catches on and takes off and becomes the next big thing? I would gladly eat my word's. I just don't see the appeal lasting personally..... We shall see I suppose.

 

I can see VR working for games designed specifically for it but whether those are my type of games is yet to be seen.

I have tried Oculus at a trade show (a horror game and rollercoaster demo) which was fun but not my idea of quality gaming time. Not writing it off, just yet to be convinced.

 

I thought you said Microsoft need to make a big move? And then you speak of Eternal Champions???? LOL!!!!!

Nah.....Microsoft need to bag Fallout 4 and the next big Grand Theft Auto game.

Not only is GTAV one of the best games ever made.....it's the biggest selling game of all time.

If Microsoft secured either exclusivity for these games or at the very least, paid to ensure Xbox One got the best versions of these games (like they did throughout the 360 era) then I am straight off down town to get an Xbox One.

 

I want Fallout 4 more than any other game known to man.
